NEW YORK — The storylines surrounding UConn coach Jim Calhoun and St. John’s coach Norm Roberts were intriguing even before their two teams squared off Tuesday in the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden.
How close is the aging and ailing Calhoun to the end of his own career? What’s left in the cupboard at UConn after this season to motivate him to stay?
Could the embattled Roberts save his job with a late-season run at Madison Square Garden? How far would he have to take the Red Storm in the Big East to do so?
Those questions became even more pronounced after the No. 13 Red Storm put a 73-51 beat-down on the No. 12 Huskies to advance to a second-round date with Marquette Wednesday.

Like I said yesterday Uconn is slipping and kemba will definitely leave. Why do you think they are recruiting Knight,Selby and Joseph + D. LAMB combo guard. Its not to play with Kemba like some of you think.Wake up Uconn is official ly on a major decline if they dont land Knight,Selby, or Joseph. They will have a very young and inexperienced team next year and will miss the tourney again with or without Calhoun.

UofA BJ – you are the one that needs to wake up. Did you even read the article on SNY? Kemba Walker stated that he is coming back next year to get a higher spot in the draft and develop his skills. Secondly, if UConn is on such a major decline after making the Final Four just 11 months ago, does that make Arizona on the rise? They suck this year too, but at least we beat 3 top 10 teams. I expect that most Zona fans are more intelligent than this genius homer

The Calhoun situation will no doubt hurt UCONN a bit; it just depends on how long it drags out. UCONN will be fine long term though, as will UofA.

Huskies NYC, Arizona is on the rise. I would say 16-14 is a pretty good rebuilding year considering all that has been happening at Arizona.

16-14 is bs beardown this team should have, could have been in the tourney as a at large but we didnt want it enough at certain times. (wsu.osu).
As for Uconn Im not trying to rip the program and fans im just stating my opinion as to what I see there.I didnt see the kemba walker article on sny, and although it means nothing now I would be suprised if he stayed only because I think so highly of him and I think he is top 3 pg on nba radar. That would certainly help Uconn next year but losing dyson and robinson and edwards I have a hard time seeing Uconn in tourney next year.
Its gonna be weird not seeing Uconn,UNC,and possibly ARIZONA not in the big dance.

Although 16-14 is not terrible considering our circumstances, you are right BJ, we could have been in the tourney as an at large.
If we would have won that WSU game an swept OSU we would be 19-11. Throw in that loss to ASU at home and we would have 20 wins.
