Despite rumors that Brandon Knight has committed to Kentucky, his father says there is no truth to it.
‘No, no he hasn’t committed to Kentucky,” Efrem Knight said Sunday afternoon by phone. “Everything’s still the same.”
Asked when Brandon might make a decision, Efrem said, “Probably in a couple of weeks.”
The 6-foot-4 Knight lists Florida, Kentucky, Kansas, UConn, and Miami as his final five.
One assistant coach of a school recruiting Knight told me that, “They [Kentucky] are leading.”
Efrem said the family would decide over the next few weeks and that Brandon had no plans to take additional visits.
“No visits,” he said. “We’re done with that. We might watch some conference tournaments.”
Knight scored 18 points Thursday but his Fort Lauderdale Pine Crest team lost to Tallahassee Rickards 70-46 in the Class 3A Florida boys basketball final.
With his season done, Knight is committed to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game (March 31) and the Jordan Brand Classic (April 17), as well as at the Nike Hoop Summit April 10 at the Rose Garden in Portland, Ore.
“It’s over,” Efrem said of his son’s regular season. “[We have] McDonald’s and Jordan and USA Basketball.”
He once again said Brandon had not committed
“There is no commitment,” he said.
GILCHRIST VISITS UK
Michael Gilchrist, the 6-7 junior wing from Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick ranked No. 1 in his class, attended the Florida-Kentucky game Sunday.
Gilchrist’s season ended prematurely when St. Patrick was banned from the New Jersey state tournament because head coach Kevin Boyle admitted to holding six out-of-season practices.

interesting, UK fans say this is a done deal. sounds like the door is open.
Knight and Walker would be great

ZonaWildcat / March 7, 2010
What’s this kid waiting for? Seriously? He can go to ANY team he wants and they will accommodate him, what is there to wait for? What is going to change in the next couple weeks?
This kid has had plenty of time to decide where he wants to go. He’s just dicking people around and likes the attention.
/
RockChalkWoody / March 7, 2010
It is irritating as hell, but they are just kids. My guess is that he really is torn because he likes one place and possibly his parents and/or “handlers” like another place. Who knows? Then again, maybe you’re right…he just likes the attention.
/
HuskiesNYC / March 7, 2010
i just hope he comes to UConn to play with Kemba Walker. Imagine that backcourt
/
BostonCat / March 7, 2010
its his decision to make when he feels like he wants too. it has nothing to do with you. how would you like it if i told you when you should make decisions on your life?
/
ZonaWildcat / March 7, 2010
What are you his boyfriend? The guy keeps claiming that the same 5 schools who have been recruiting him for the past 8 months, or even longer, that are still on his list are all even.
After all the visits you still believe that crap? He knows where he is going, he’s just milking the process.
/
BostonCat / March 7, 2010
you are the one that seems emotionally tied to an 18 years olds life. not me. its his decision to make and he will make it when he wants. i dont see what the big deal is. sorry he isnt making choices about his life based on your time table.
if recruiting bothers you this much…you probably shouldnt pay any attention to it.
/
ZonaWildcat / March 7, 2010
This is called a blog and we are having a discussion about a kid and how he hasn’t made a decision on where he is going to play college basketball are we not?
I said what I thought about why he was taking so long and IF YOU don’t like my opinion, than get the hell off this blog and stop reading other peoples thoughts on the matter.
Ok?
/
BostonCat / March 7, 2010
no problem man. just be sure to give all the recruits out there a call and tell them you are ready for them decide and you are waiting.
/
pastaboy / March 7, 2010
This kid will lose the jeri curls under Cal ….learn the game and become a millionaire in 18 months …… lets move on .
/
RockChalk97 / March 7, 2010
Pastaboy would give Cal the old rusty trombone if given the opportunity
/
BostonCat / March 7, 2010
you might too when you see the class cal is going to land.
/
RockChalk97 / March 7, 2010
No, no I would not.
/
UofA BJ / March 7, 2010
Kemba Walker wont be at Uconn next year wake up.
/
finnmaccoul / March 7, 2010
Those are actually cornrows, not jeri curls.
/
MilesCat / March 8, 2010
Quincy Miller, Deuce Bello, and Turkish big man Enes Kanter were at the game too. The buzz in Lexington is that the chips will start to fall in the near future, but I have heard that before. Most believe Knight is down to Florida and UK. I don’t know why he would chose Florida…maybe to stay close to home? Good game, better atmosphere.

HallBall / March 8, 2010
BostonCat I said the exact samething when the Selby story unfolded about him skipping the trip to Kentucky. These guys on here take this recruiting thing so serious you would think they are working on the coaching staff of whatever school they favor. The bottomline Is when these kids pick where they are going to school will not have impact on our lives (well at least mine) but it will drastically change theirs so shut the hell up with the complaining because your opinion means nothing to these kids all we can do Is speculate now and congratulate later.
/
HallBall / March 8, 2010
If Uconn doesnt do well in the BE tournament I will bet any amount of money that Kemba will be back. Walker is a competitor, he would not want to go out on a down year and I dont beleive Jim Calhoun will let him, expect Kemba to be back and possibly stay the full four years just like the majority of the players from the Big East.
/
HuskiesNYC / March 8, 2010
I agree with HallBall. Kemba has a good head on his shoulders and I think he will listen to Calhoun when he tells him he needs another year to fully develop. I would be very surprised and disappointed if he leaves
/
pastaboy / March 8, 2010
Actually ….. he is waiting to make sure Wall doesn’t get injured in the tournament . Tyreke did the same thing with Rose . A serious acl requiring 9 months or so of rehabilitation could leave Wall out of the draft and back at Ky . next year . Millions involved here ….these kids have advisors who leave no stone unturned.
/
UofA BJ / March 8, 2010
I dont mean to put down Uconn but they are really in a tumultious time right now. First off the players calhoun has brought in the last couple of years arent up to par with what he’s had in the past. A big part of that has to do with his health the last few years. You do realize that Kemba Walker is a first round lock, right? With all the struggles this year and the fact that their two other best players Dyson and Robinson are leaving plus gavin edwards it doesnt look good for a extremely young Uconn team next year with or without walker. Therefore it is a no brainer for him to leave. And that is without even weighing the whole calhoun health issues.
As far as saaying Calhoun will make walker stay, get real and keep dreaming, money talks and Walker is from NYC.
/
UofA BJ / March 8, 2010
PastaGirl Wall could tear his ACL in the tourny and he is still gone.
/
ZonaWildcat / March 8, 2010
God, poor UCONN. That is EXACTLY what we went through at Arizona.
Lackluster recruits Lute’s last 2 years than him taking a leave of absence and us losing out on 2 years of recruiting.
I’m telling you, its dejavu of the Arizona and Lute Olson situation.
/
RockChalk97 / March 8, 2010
Yeah you guys are right. UConn is really hurting coming off of a trip to the Final Four. You zona fans should stick to Pac 10 talk. Idiots….
/
UofA BJ / March 8, 2010
that was last year with a stacken team moron. we are talking about now and the future not the past. If you dont have anything good to post but calling people idiots then dont post you fucking faggot Rock chalk97. By the way 97 is my favorite year thats when we took the great jayhawks to the woodshed and cut down the nets bitch.
/
ZonaWildcat / March 8, 2010
And North Carolina is coming off a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and won’t be making the NCAA tournament either! Just like UCONN. So what’s your point?
Our point was the fact that the events unfolding with Coach Calhoun and the Huskie program is EXACTLY like Lute Olson and Arizona.
Live in denial about it all you want, but reality is gonna sink in soon and the Huskies will be without their hall of fame coach. I just hope they are a little more prepared for it unlike Arizona.
/
ZonaWildcat / March 8, 2010
^^^Hahaha THIS^^^
Oh I remember that 97 Arizona team!
So does the 3 #1 seeds they beat; Kansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina!
/
HuskiesNYC / March 8, 2010
The fact that UConn made the Final Four just 11 months ago is proof that the program is not on decline. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think Zona has made a FF since 2001. Thats 9 years! I think UA is a good program and will come back strong but the comparisons are pre-mature. Calhoun is healthy, cancer free and wants to go out on top. He’s too competitve to leave after a season like this.
/
RockChalkWoody / March 8, 2010
Supposedly, Selby is down to either UT or KU. Not sure I believe this source:
http://twitter.com/mgrif32
/
UofA BJ / March 8, 2010
u drafting tonight woody?
/
ZonaWildcat / March 8, 2010
So was Lute Olson, but reality set in and he realized his health was more important than the program he built from the ground up and put his heart and soul into.
I hope Coach Calhoun returns. I’ve always said he is one of the greatest of all time, but I just hope you Huskie fans have a backup plan for when he exits.
Missing an NCAA tournament game last year than a bunch of regular season games this year doesn’t look good. And he is only getting older.
/
ZonaWildcat / March 8, 2010
I find it funny how UT thinks they are back in this. Seriously; why in the hell would he de-commit, go through the whole recruiting process just to go back to Tennessee?
I don’t see it happening, and that source is garbage.
/
pastaboy / March 8, 2010
not 1st ….maybe 10th ….. about 6 million difference ……
/
RockChalkWoody / March 9, 2010
My 10-yr-old had baseball practice so we did the autopick deal. I haven’t really had enough time to look and see how we did.
/
Cat in the Desert / March 9, 2010
RockDummy is an idiot, what u did last year has nothing to do with this year. UNC is the exact example. Pac 10 is down but it rotates you moron. Once you see how many players will get drafted form the BE in the next couple of years, its gonna be your turn.
/
UAWildcat / March 9, 2010
Actually, Jerryd Bayless decommitted from the UA and then recommitted and Solomon Hill did too. It is more common than you would think.
/
ZonaWildcat / March 9, 2010
You are comparing apples to oranges here.
Bayless and Hill committed than de-committed because there was a change in the head coaching position and they didn’t know who the head coach was going to be.
With Bayless, Lute Olson was questionable on whether he could return and once the season started O’Neil took over and the rest is history.
Pearl was never in question of leaving Tennessee, so Selby would be playing for the same coaching staff that recruited him.
/
pastaboy / March 9, 2010
that’s Emanuel Negedu did ….
