Selby Set to Visit UConn; Wright Leaves Friars; Stokes Apologizes for Incident

Josh Selby is set to visit UConn this weekend and attend Sunday’s game against Louisville despite the massive snowstorm blanketing the Northeast.

“Everything is going well and yes everything is on for UConn,” Maeshon Witherspoon, Selby’s mother, told Alex Kline of BoxofMess.com.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Selby is down to four schools: Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky and UConn.

He had initially cut the Huskies from his list but now they are back on.

“Actually, we had a relationship with UConn first,” Witherspoon told the Baltimore Sun. “They were on the list. We kind of had some miscommunication, so we talked about it and worked it back out.”

A McDonald’s All-American, Selby is averaging more than 30 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for Baltimore (Md.) Lake Clifton.

UConn is also involved with senior guards Brandon Knight, Cory Joseph and Doron Lamb.

WRIGHT LEAVES FRIARS

Kyle Wright, a 6-6, 215-pound junior from Hartford, Conn., is leaving the Providence basketball team, according to the Providence Journal.

Wright was averaging 2.8 points and 1.7 rebounds, while shooting just 36 percent from the floor.

He said his lack of playing time combined with his academic workload motivated him to leave the team. He is pursuing a double major in business management and sociology.

“I was required to take more credits than any other student,” Wright told the Providence Journal. “They accepted 70 credits and it normally takes 116 to graduate. I need 140 credits. It would be possible (to graduate and keep playing basketball), but I was in a position where I had to do everything perfectly. I had to fit everything in perfectly.”

Providence has three players committed for next season and now has an extra scholarship to use.

The Friars are involved with 6-3 point guard Bryon Allen of St. Thomas More; 6-9 forward Kadeem Jack of Manhattan Rice; 6-6 Joel “Air Jamaica” Wright, who previously committed to Fordham; 6-4 shooting guard Trey Ziegler of Michigan Mount Pleasant; and 6-9 power forward Jon Horford of Michigan Grand Ledge.

STOKES APOLOGIZES FOR INCIDENT

Corey Stokes apologized to his Villanova teammates after getting a citation for public urination early Thursday morning.

“It’s embarrassing,” Stokes said, according to Terry Toohey of the Delco Times. “I apologized and I learned from my mistakes.”

Villanova coach Jay Wright said he wasn’t certain whether he would punish the 6-5 junior by not playing him against Syracuse in Saturday’s Big East tilt. It sounds like Stokes will play, but may not start.

“I’m still thinking about it,” Wright said, according to the DelcoTimes. “He’s fine with me and the team. He apologized to the team. It was a simple college student’s mistake. He was not drunk and so with me he’s fine. It’s just a matter of what I think about with the team, but he’s playing and it’s just going to be a matter if we make a little decision. It’s not a major deal to me or the team.”

  • Maeshon Witherspoon needs to put a sock in it. Im tired of her being a one women promotion team. Talk about milking your son for all hes worth. Selbys recruitment isnt about school/teams/programs/history/etc… its about which school will get him the league fastest so Meashon can get herself a brand new house and Mercedes.

Shes a micro-manager and wont keep her mouth shut even long after Josh has picked and played for a school.

    fuck off lady.

  • To be fair, Josh doesn’t do interviews, so his mom handles everything.

  • I hope Josh has a great visit to UConn. He couldn’t have picked a more important game to watch, and it’s senior day. I would love to see Selby and Walker in the backcourt for the Huskies next year!

  • This article is inaccurate. Josh Selby HAS visited UConn. He paid his own way and drove up to school in August

  • It would be interesting to see how many of those Elite Guards Calhoun could land. Calhoun is the real New England. I should however post some trash talk since neither JessieWildcat or pastaboy have written on this portion yet. So…. Uconnvict something something stolen laptops.

  • im pretty sure the only school he hasnt visited is UK. i dont recall him ever getting to rupp. i hope he ends up at UK or UCONN. it would be amusing.

  • im pretty sure the only school he hasnt visited is UK. i dont recall him ever getting to rupp

  • ooops. double post

  • Selby is an Arizona lock.

He will do to ‘Zona what Wall did to ‘Tucky.

Why would he want to be just another replacement or live in another’s shadow?

Selby’s going to create his own legacy. He’s ready for his own stage.

Sean Miller (stud PG himself) and Arizona.

  • i would put money on Lamb and Selby going somewhere other than Arizona. Arizona is being considered by both but ultimately neither will land there. Say hello to Kadeem Jack as your best recruit.

  • If AZ did pull Selby in they would still struggle to be relevant nationally. HE IS NOT JOHN WALL, OR BRANDON KNIGHT, or even kyrie irving to be honest.

  • There is a reason that the top 3 PG’s all have UConn on their final list, and despite what posters on here think I would be shocked if they don’t land one. D Lamb also has the huskies up there. Zona is on the outside looking in in term of recruiting. Kansas, Kentucky and UConn is where these PG’s are going

  • LMFAO @ Selby being an Arizona “lock.” I guess Jessie isn’t the only delusional UA fan.

  • bigpapijugg, I’ve watched Selby play a lot & he’s just as good as Knight or Irving.

  • Let’s face it, this is Calhoun’s last year. At least last guaranteed year.

Top recruits just can’t risk it. They just can’t. I hope the best for Jim, but this story has been played out many times, and it won’t change now.

Reminds me of Lute’s last days. Gaddy committed twice, Jennings was coming, Bayless came. But in the end, they were dealing with a great coach who was on the last days of his career.

The characters change, but the plot remains the same.

  • That’s bs. Jennings didn’t come because he couldn’t make grades. You guys were slipping even before Lute lost his mind.

As for Calhoun, I watched UConn play the other night and he was jumping around and acting like a coach that isn’t leaving anytime soon. Why would a big-time recruit want to go out west and never be seen on TV (Fox Sports sucks) when you can be on ESPN all of the time (and most of the country is still awake when you play)?

  • Calhoun has already agreed to a 5 year extension but has not yet signed it. He’s telling recruits he’ll be in Storrs for another 5 years minimum. He looked pretty healthy against WVU getting T’d up and rallying the boys to another top 10 win. Calhoun desperately wants that 3rd National Title and I will be shocked if he isn’t back, and a maniac on the sidelines next year. You haven’t heard the last classic postgame from Coach C.

  • Calhoun jumping around? Could be senile already.

And who would want to go out west? I don’t know, you might want to ask the 23 big time recruits who were drafted in the first and second rounds the last 2 years, more than any other conference by a very long shot, why they would want to play out west. 23. Go and ask them son.

  • Lute actually signed an extension to 2014. Health supersedes contracts.

I’m pulling for Calhoun as he’s one of the last old school greats, but his health is first priority.

  • Calhoun doesn’t have Lute Olson Syndrome yet. He’s also not the type of guy to abandon his team for a full year because he was having trouble at home. 67 is not that old in the coaching world and he’s as sharp as ever. The media has never given Calhoun a fair shake . They are just making a big deal out of nothing. You’re reading too much into what (morons) like Pat Forde think.

  • Lute left mid-season because he had a stroke, and the family problems at home were consequences of the stroke.

Calhoun left in the middle of this season and came back. He missed important games in the NCAA tourney. I don’t think a coach as passionate as Calhoun would miss such games unless it was a real necessity, if you catch my drift.

I hope he is around for a lot longer, but bodies are not meant to last forever. It sucks, but we can’t hide from reality. 67 is not that old, true, but we all age differently.

This does not tarnish is greatness or his ability to coach, but talking about recruiting, it does creep into the back of the mind.

  • Yes, I agree with most of what you said. However, I do feel that Calhoun has a history of missing games for motivational reasons. This season is a little different. I think he left for a couple weeks bc he couldn’t handle a team that he loves and has NBA players losing to teams like Providence. The pending recruitng investigation (over a guy that never played) has been nagging at Calhoun. Personally I don’t think he will retire due to health reasons. As a UConn fan, I can’t imagine the program without him.

  • I’m not your son & what did those 23 big-time recruits do for your program? You guys are a joke. You want to be a part of the Big 6 so bad and you’re not. You UA guys constantly talk about all your NBA talent. 4 Final Fours and 1 NCAA Championship? $hit, the Jayhawks just went to three Final Fours in the last decade.

bosy, once you said that Selby was a “lock” you lost all credibility with anything else you say. Save your energy for the NIT, son.

  • Alright, he’s not a lock, obviously. But the more this drags on, the more Arizona makes sense.

Calipari and Self are pushing hard for Knight, but only one will get him (unless he goes to Florida). Anyway, they are great programs. No debate.

But there is something fresh and invigorating about Sean Miller and what he is about to do with Arizona. A school with a great coach and staff (including one of the top fitness coaches in Chris Rounds), a great campus, great weather, great education, great sports program, great basketball town, great girls, great vibe, etc. And Miller turning a program around that was very recently dominant year in and year out – a fun to watch, elite NBA factory… It would be a great national story for Selby to be the next great guard out of there, and Sean Miller’s first real big fish, and having Lute in the stands watching it all unfold.

OR, he can do the usual and go to Larry Kansas for a year, play on another good Kansas team, play for Self, because it’s the “thing to to”. Ho hum. OR, he go to Kentucky and be compared to John Wall the whole time and try to make a new dance step.

All reports are that Kansas leads, but who knows if WWW and Calipari start throwing the Nike stuff at them.

Anyway, the cool move for him would be Arizona. That’s what I would do and what I would want my son to do because Sean Miller and Book and the staff are genuine and legit. He can dominate the Pac-10. Get Freshmen and Pac-10 player of the year. And enter the draft as a top 5 pick and play with the dozens of other Arizona Wildcats.

    It just makes sense.

  • WoodyJayhawk-

    A couple things:

FIrst of all, read the posts before you run your mouth. You asked, who would want to play out west? The answer was 23 big time recruits. He was referring to the number of Pac 10 players drafted in the past two years, not UofA players. While the number is actually 21, it is 8 more, yes 8 more, than the second highest conference the past two years (which is a big reason why the Pac 10 is so down this year, although I will admit it should never be this bad, even if 50 guys were drafted). So, I guess some guys who want to go to the NBA would consider playing out west.

Second, you saying Arizona is a joke is a far more dumber statement than saying Selby is a lock (which I don’t agree with either). If Arizona is a joke, why are Selby and Lamb even considering going there? They are considering UofA along with KU and UK. I wonder why if they are a joke.

Third, if Arizona is a joke, what does that make you? No, not KU, or KU fans, but you WoodyJayhawk. You bite every time a UofA fan says anything. You sure are insecure for a KU fan.

Fourth, the big 6? No, it’s the big 4 (which, of course, KU is a part of). But for the sake of your lame argument, let’s say UofA wants in. Is it a shame to be 7th, or 10th, or 12th best basketball program? Are you that shortsighted? Is 7th that bad? 12th?

Fifth, if KU is the standard (which they arguably are, along with the other three), why do you constantly riducule programs that can’t match KU’s success and history? Just because UofA isn’t KU by no means makes it a joke, or a bad program. Far from it actually. And to ridicule programs that can’t match KU’s success actually belittles KU’s accomplishments

Above all, UofA has nothing to be ashamed of, not to a KU fan, UCLA fan, or UNC fan. Four final fours in 22 years is pretty good. One title is nothing to sneeze at. KU has what two, the last forty years? Point is, it is very hard to win a title, even for KU. Dean Smith has two titles and he is considered one of the best ever (so does Roy Williams cough).

    Get a clue.

  • She’s actually much more tactful through the recruitment than Tywanna “The Human Press Conference” Patterson, mother of Patrick Patterson.

In terms of the son, the breaking of his verbal agreement, while Bruce Pearl was coaching overseas in the Maccabiah Games last summer, was certainly a rough one.

  • I am so tired of reading RockChalkDummy here run his mouth about his prominent KU program. Dude, seriously get a life. You bag JessieWildcat all the time, though, if you look real close; You are as delusional as he is.

Look, Bosy was ill advised claiming he (Selby) is UA lock. Though, you really need to stop acting you are Mr.Basketball Guru on this site.

At the very least, you must agree with a couple of valid points, loser. UA is a playboy party school (hottest SoCal chicks), great weather, great school, and a REAL PT. GUARD COACH. All Self has got is deep pockets. Don’t make it seem like he developed this empire. That program was left at tip-top shape under Williams.

I will give you this, Selby will get much more lime-light type exposure at KU. Big 12 games are constantly on ESPN. That is about it, other than he may get a hummer sooner than expected. hmmmm…….

  • I have a question for all of those who think it is so important for players to be on ESPN. Who needs to see these guys play? Family and scouts, right? NBA scouts go to games (NBA scouts know how to get to Tucson, Lexington, Durham etc.) and the family can watch on T.V. or internet from the University the kid is playing for. Also Woody do you really think Selby or any recruit pays for there own unoffical visits I for one think teh most talented players do not, no matter what University they are visiting.

  • Never claimed to be a guru. Just tired of you UA fans running your mouths all of the friggin’ time.

  • Woody I thought your comment about unc/uofa nit title game was hilarious. I took exception to calling UofA a joke. You do, I admit, put up with a lot of crap from us UofA fans. But I think its because you always bite and because your distaste for Jessie has caused you to hate UofA.

  • Michael, I do not hate UA. I think Sean Miller is a fine coach & there’s no doubt in my mind that he will get you guys back to a higher level. And I still think your Cats have a shot at Lamb, but not Selby.

As for Jessie, I know it’s easy for you guys to just look the other way, but it’s complete bs to sit & ignore his constant jabs at Bill Self & the program (what kind of an a-hole posts the same youtube video over & over again of a van picking up players after the fighting on campus?). I will not do it. If that means I have to take crap from CatintheAZ, etc. that’s okay.

If I came here and made a bunch of wild accusations about your program (i.e., Cactus Classic smack) I would expect you guys to rip me.

Again, I’m not a guru…just a fan like everyone else.

  • Woody,

Ignore Jesse, I do. He wants to get a rise out of you. Miller will get us back on top, and 25 years is a hell of a run (barring the PAC10 tourney title). All PROGRAMS have a bad season or 2. It was nice to see Kentucky lose today. Bear Down!

  • I’m not sure Jessie does the silly post to get a rise out of others or if he believes that recruits read our trivial posts. Not sure which is more pathetic.

  • So you’re saying that he just gave up on his team and took some time off because he couldn’t control them and didn’t like the way they were playing?

Wow, I don’t know what is worse; health reason or the fact that he left because he couldn’t control his team! Wake up mann, it was health issues!

This is dejavu of Lute Olson all over again. You huskie fans better get ready for a rough couple years. Trying to replace a HOF coach is not easy!

  • You’re just as bad as JessieWildcat in many people’s eyes on this forum. You spew B.S. and bias towards your beloved JayHawks all day long.

  • Good point!

Look at James Harden who played for ASU last year. The guy was a top 5 pick in the NBA draft and played for ASU!

ASU is FAR from a basketball school. Hell, only half of their games are televised, they only fill half of the stadium every game, and yet James Harden STILL was a top 5 pick without ANY exposure!

The point is it doesn’t matter how much exposure they have, whether they are playing on ESPN or FSN, if the kid can ball and is a top talent, they are going to get noticed no matter what and James Harden proved that theory.

  • And everyone on here is tired of your mouth just like JessieWildcat!

You spew your B.S. about KU all the time!

  • At this point going forward, we are playing with strictly freshmen. Our team will be at an elite level some next year. Do not count this team out winning the PAC10 tourney. That’s right you heard it here first, I will say they have the highest probability of winning that garbage tourney. They really are the best team out west by far… Start Momo, Solo, Parrom, Williams, Naty. That should and will be the lineup going forward. Next year with the addition of DB, Selby, Lamb and Jack would put us in the final four within a year’s time. All of you non-wildcat fans banking on our 1 scholarship left for 2010 are not very well informed. Miller will be cleaning house and bringing in his OWN recruits, and he will drop Lute’s old table scraps to waste. Really these guys are not “ARIZONA GOOD”. We will clean up house, and the recruits mentioned above are aware of that.

IF, that is a big IF, we somehow win the PAC10 tourney; Recruits will come and join the party. This team will be built Miller’s way. It is certaintly approaching MILLER TIME. BOOK IT!

  • About the Cactus Classic, ol’ Lute was not the coordinator of that mess. Now, I don’t want to belittle your opinions, but calling UA a joke is flat out garbage talk. Since the loss to the Illini in the elite 8 back in 05′, our team has not been elite. Though, it had everything to do with Lute’s health status. This in itself prevented an open pipeline for recruits to join in. Now that Miller is in, he will cleanup the mess. Keep the players that can play his style of uptempo ball.

Should be absolutely NO reason to call our program a joke… Sure we have not been elite but always a top 2-3 program out west.

You will be eating those words come next yr.

    Book IT!

  • Nice game by KansASS ay Woody.LMFAO with jessie wildcat. Bill Self should have taken the OK state job before he gets busted by the NCAA for paying players.LMFAO with DavidPK. Will Ganster U still be number one come monday or will the Cuse’ jump them Woody?

  • I don’t know UofA BlowJob. Actually, I’m LMFAO thinking about you, Jessie, and DavidPK hanging out in Jessie’s parents basement watching Zona in the NIT. Sounds like a real circlejerk to me.

  • Woody is just bitter about losing to OK State.

  • Yeah, it sucks to be 27-2. Beardown for the NIT.

  • Bet it sucks worse liviing in Kansass or Missouri.

  • Woody you talk about seeing all these elite players play? When? On Youtube highlight reels?Get a clue. No Elite AAU tourneys in your parts just coaches paying players to move out to the middle of nowhere.

  • Yeah, we don’t have Elite AAU ball out here in the sticks. $hit, I just got running water last week. We’ll just have to keep paying players to come to KU.

  • Glad you are finally seeing the light woody.

  • AZ,

I hear there is a STORM coming in the EAST.

    Big news.
    Look forward to your news.

Arizona will surely have FIVE commits for 2010.

    Note:
Best of luck to JS and his vist.
I do enjoy Mrs W. comments.
Not over the top. And respectful…even to Kansass “Gangster U”.

  • To all the Husky fans —

    Really?
    No Really!

Lets see how the recruits pan out.
And how things progress after the season.

I am sure AZ will have some news in this area ,as well.

  • just like thefbi

  • UofA Blowjob, you helped me see the light. You, Jessie, CATintheAZ, DavidPK, beardown3232, etc. are some of the most knowledgeable fans out there. We know nothing about good basketball in the Midwest. All this time I thought we had a decent program, but I see we are nowhere near your elite level.

  • Anyone know why Selby missed his official visit to UCONN?

  • FWI Woody my name UofA BJ is supposed to infere UofA BlowJob because they are that good here unlike in the midwest with all those cows you got.
As far as basketball no one is disputing kansas basketball history we are only pointing out the fact that you are a douchebag thats all.

  • Woody, I live in Saint Louis and trust me, there is not one good recruit coming out of here anytime soon. I have previously lived in northern Cal, southern Cal, and Tucson and all those places produce more talent than anywhere in the mid-west. The odds of a talent like Harrison Barnes living in Iowa are 1 in a billion. The best recruits in basketball, football, and baseball normally come out of either the west or west coast or the east coast so I completely agree with anyone who says states like Kansas and Missouri don’t produce much college talent.

  • Woody, we repeat, this is not to put your observations down the toilet. It is respectful that your school can contend year in and year out. But, you have to understand that this is not the Naismith days. Kansas is a hillbilly, cow growing, middle of no place town where it is hard to fathom something sketchy not going on. I mean come on, half the people in Lawrence are missing teeth due to their terrible tobacco chewing habits. Who is their right mind would want to spend 1-4 yrs. in that town?

Please…. let’s put this in perspective.

This is really a no-brainer regardless how educated the observer maybe. The only opinions we care about are that of Selby, Lamb, and Jack. Perfect weather, perfect SoCal girls, great school, 13K in attendance on avg.(sell out), excellent facilities, NBA ties (long, long list, up with UNC, DUKE). Enough said!

Only reason Mrs. W. elects Kansas would be to obtain an acceptance into the Mercedes preferred customer list within a few months time?

  • I agree with you that the coasts traditionally have the top recruits, but saying the midwest has recruits like harrison barnes are 1 in a billion is not true. the odds are not quite that low.

You obviously dont pay too much attention to st. louis area basketball because Bradley Beal (Florida commit) is a monster in the class of 2011 from St. Louis.

Perry Ellis from Wichita is already one of the top recruits for the class of 2012. Kansas City usually has 1 or 2 good players a year. Iowa has produced its fair share of talent over the years (Nick Collison, Kirk Hinrich, Raef Lafrentz and Barnes)

As much as i dislike him, Tyler Hansbrough was from Missouri. Im not sure if you count Chicago as midwest or not but alot of great players have come from there.

The midwest isn’t as good as the coasts, but alot of good players have come out of the midwest.

  • Give me a break CatintheAZ,

i live in Lawrence, have all my teeth, don’t own any cattle, don’t chew tobacco etc… you obviously have never been to Lawrence. you have sadly mistaken us for our little brothers out west in Manhattan (K state). Where everything you mentioned is accurate.

also, i have a hard time Selby would rather play in the mckale center than Allen Fieldhouse. we sell out all our games too, seat more people than you, on TV more, have better basketball tradition, have NBA ties and top notch facilities, basketball obsessed town…(see, we can play this game too)

I would like you to show me some shred of evidence you have KU pays its players to go there. (and dont give me the Roy williams graduation crap)

i don’t hate arizona, but even if i did i wouldn’t go spewing off ridiculous things about the state of arizona or tuscon in general. I have been to Tucson and I like it. its a nice place to live.
if you have something valuable to say i would love to hear it, if not, don’t waste all of our time.

  • Lawrence is a nice town I have family there. KU has one of the most beautiful campuses and one of the richest traditions in college bball. And they have good Bud. But Selby seems like a NIKE kind of guy and last time I checked KU is a lame Addidas School.

  • CATintheAZ, you should do some research regarding where Lawrence is located. I’m only 30 minutes from campus and the county that I live and work in had the nation’s 46th highest per-capita income (as of 2005). It also had the third highest EBI (Estimated Buying Income) in the nation. So saying we’re just a bunch of farmers and hicks obviously makes you feel better, but it’s not exactly true.

You are right about one thing, however, once Josh gets to Lawrence he will have a more dependable car.

  • Yeah, adidas really sucks. I’m tired of being unoriginal & not having the same cookie-cutter Nike unis like UA has. The electrical tape on the shoulders is a nice touch. However, I noticed that you guys weren’t elite enough to get the new ones with the images on the back. Why is that? Nike developers couldn’t figure out any tradition other than just a picture of Lute?

  • Dont know why woody but those new jerseys you are refering to that duke has are gay.
Wish we could go back to the old UofA jerseys like the ones they were wearing in 97′ Sweet Sixteen game!

  • UofA, we finally agree on something. Those Duke uni’s are pretty bad. I liked our old Nike unis like we were wearing in 2003 when we knocked off Duke and then UA to go to the Final Four.

  • Yeah, I’m not much a fan of the Mizzou uniforms (or their program). Did you happen to see those awful football uni’s they wore at the end of the season? I didn’t realize that gunmetal grey was a part of their school colors? The good news is I heard they donated the helmets to Whiteman Air Force Base:

    http://www.nike.com/nikeos/p/usnikefootball/en_US/rivalries09?school=miz&tab=uniform

  • That’s good they donated them to an Air Force Base. That is the only place where they should even consider putting on those helmets.

  • beardown, are there a lot of MU grads in the St. Louis area? The reason I ask is that we laugh at their fans in KC because most of them didn’t even go there–they went to some directional Mizz-u-rah school instead. But make no mistake, beating KU is their NCAA Championship.

  • Its the same thing in St. Louis.

I personally can’t stand Mizzou. They make the elite eight and they act they are the champions. Although I am not a fan of KU, I completely respect your athletic program. I say this in no disrespect, there must be something awfully special in Lawrence for you to be able to attract world class recruits to play at a school in the middle of farm land. Just like there is something special in Tucson,( which is in the middle of nowhere basically and it is over 100 degrees for at least 4 months of the year) for us to get some of the best basketball players like Richard Jefferson, Mike Bibby, Andre Iguodala and of course Agent Zero. But Mizzou on the other hand, they consider Jon Hamm the best athlete they ever produced because he played football at a high school in St. Louis. I do happen to know someone that played with him.

To be fair, they did technically produce Ian Kinsler of the Texas Rangers but that was after he transferred from a baseball powerhouse, ASU, because he did not get enough playing time, playing behind Dustin Pedroia. Here is a list of former Mizzou athletes courtesy of Wikipedia. I don’t think one is a household name.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_University_of_Missouri_alumni#Athletics

  • Compare that to KU’s alumni and I wouldn’t really consider your rivalry a rivalry.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_University_of_Kansas_people#Athletes_and_coaches

Although Arizona is no where near where Kansas is in basketball right now, we are still on the same level in athletics overall. Mizzou however, is not.

  • I’m impressed with what Stoops has done in football at UA. It looks like he’s really turned the corner.

  • I can’t say the feeling is mutual about Kansas football.

  • Woody, that is the best comment you have had to date; quite refreshing. Mark this down, we will be in a BCS game come 2010. In 2012 with Daxx Garman and the 5 star recruit/transfer from UT Austin, we should be competing for the BCS title.

Now, back to bball. The UA bball squad really has work to do. Transformation needs to start this week starting 4 freshmen and Wise at the 2 guard. Once Parrom comes back, we can talk about inserting him for valuable minutes. This team can and should win the “WAC9” tourney.

Let’s all hope we can pull off a 6 game W streak entering the NCAAs. Wouldn’t that be a story, a team full of freshmen emerging at the end of the season, as it will def. catch Mr. Selby’s eyes and have him join the party. Also, there will be plenty of room for Mr. Lamb and Mr. Jack….

Prediction. 19-14 regular season. Sweet 16 appearance. BOOK IT!

  • If only we lived in a perfect world CATintheAZ.

  • I have sat next to some pretty cool Mizzou alum the past eight years in Vegas for the 1st and 2nd round of the tourney.

  • I wish CatintheAZ was right, no fault for wishing

  • This is actually quite refreshing, WildCats and Jayhawks getting along!?!? I haven’t seen this since Jessie appeared around here which now seems like he’s been here forever. I don’t hate jesse I actually find his postings comical and a guy who speaks his mind without caring what anybody thinks. Now UA needs to land Selby and Lamb, then hope that Mayes retracts his commitment and allow KJack to commit or T Jones cause were gonna need help up front. Now any three of those plus D. Bejarano will make a pretty impressive class, and seeing how weak the Pac is we’ll definatly be in contention next year for a Conference Champions and a deep NCAA run. I know its all wishing and speculation now but it doens’t hurt to hope.

  • Cat in the Desert,

    Been celebrating NEW YEAR!!

You like Jessie. That is so sweet.
But, please NO man crush like PastaBoy on Cali…LOL

When you can TELL everyone about Daniel Bejarano and his commit to Arizona – one year prior to…then, you can jump on board with JW.

Arizona is getting FIVE commits fro 2010.
    Josh S
    D-Lamb (The Package)

    K.Jack (Three Amigos)

    And…

    ONE

    Big News coming ….

  • WOuld it be great to see Ray McCallum actually go to Kansass.
His visit to Kansass was so-so.

Miller finally saw the light with Ray.
Never believed that Ray was in a win-win situation with Arizona.

    Unlike Josh Selby.
The West sees a very good match with JS and Arizona.
As well as D-Lamb and Arizona.

    The big question is…
KJ is the East coast version of Derrick Williams.
Or another up & coming star like
    Jordan Hill.

    Which one?
    Either one is very good.

    Note:
Did Zonawildcat ever see the LIGHT?
    NOT even after being spoonfeed!
    Go read about Daniel Bejarano.
    Read about USC Timmie.
    Rickie Sexy Pitinio..
    D.Williams….
    MoMo
    JW….

    (M.Stoops,Jim L.,Tobias, Smith…)

  • ^^^^ this post is nothing short of awesome.

  • Jessie’s rants would be a lot better if we could just figure out what language he’s using. He’s either 8-yrs-old or he was dropped on his head as a baby.

  • Lol Jessie, i don’t have a man crush on you, I just don’t hate you like 99.8% of the people on the blogs you post. Relax you shouldn’t fee attacked. Anyways heres to hoping Selby makes the right decision and comes to ‘Zona!!

  • I like what Jerry Meyer had to say on the subject:

“Elite 2010 prospect Josh Selby was unable to visit UConn last weekend, and his Kentucky visit is now also up in the air. What do these developments mean, if anything, when it comes to his pending commitment? It means one Big 12 program may have the upper hand.”

I’m sure Jessie will come along shortly and tell us that Meyer was actually referring to Nebraska or Iowa State.

  • anyone here intersted in a fantasy baseball league on espn?

  • Woody

Not sure if you heard what Dave Telep said on Courtside with Seth Davis, but Telep said he is hearing whispers that Tenn. is back in the Selby sweepstakes. If true, that does not sound good for KU or UA.

  • Yeah, I heard about that on a KU site. However, the guys I follow over there believe that Tenn is “trying” very hard to get back in, but it’s still KU, UK, and AZ.

UofA, I’m interested if you can handle a KU guy in your league? My 10-yr-old really wants to do fantasy baseball this year.

  • no problem woody just need 8 more and were good to go so if anyone else is interested in a fantasy baseball league I will be setting one up today with and I will post all the info on this article later.
