Hobbled Pirates set to Visit West Virginia

Seton Hall will likely head into Saturday’s tilt at No. 8 West Virginia without the services of junior shooting guard Jeremy Hazell.

Hazell sustained a deep cut on his right (shooting) hand during the Pirates’ 59-50 win Wednesday at St. John’s. He took eight stitches, and one source close to the program said the doctor told Hazell he could miss up to a week.

“Jeremy, I don’t know at this time,” Pirates coach Bobby Gonzalez said on Thursday’s Big East conference call. “We’re waiting. They will bring him to a doctor today and get a read on the stitches and take him to a hand specialist and get a closer look at the cut and make a determination from there. I don’t know much because I’ve never seen something like that. It’s a unique injury.”
