Cory Joseph Still Weighing Five Schools

There are four elite guards in the Class of 2010 who have yet to announce their college choices.

Brandon Knight, Doron Lamb, Josh Selby and Cory Joseph are all headed toward a spring signing bonanza and college coaches and fans are anxiously waiting to see how the dominoes fall.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Joseph of Findlay (Nev.) Prep is still considering the same five schools that have been on his list for some time: UConn, Villanova, Texas, Minnesota and UNLV.

“Cory still has the  same five on the list. There’s nothing new or different,” Findlay coach Michael Peck said.  “I don’t know that he’s made any movment.”

Joseph’s older brother, Devoe, plays at Minnesota and his teammate and fellow Canadian, Tristan Thompson, has signed with Texas. Still, many observers speculate that Joseph, the No. 3 point guard in the Class of 2010, could also land at UConn or Villanova because of their relative proximity to his home in Toronto. UNLV remains the long shot, but has the advantage of being the closest to Findlay.

“I do feel pretty confident that it will be one of the five,” Peck said.

Joseph is tight with Thompson and St. Benedict’s Prep junior Myck Kabongo, who has also verbally committed to Texas.

Yet Peck pointed out that when Thompson and Kabongo went last summer to play at the Nike Global Summit in Portland, Ore., Joseph went to the adidas Nations event in Texas.

Playing with Thompson and Kabongo does “have it’s own appeal to it but Cory’s his own guy,” Peck said. “Cory’s his own guy and he’s not afraid to do his own thing and be on his own.

“That being said he does have a great relationship with those guys and a great feel for them on the floor.”

  • Why Rickie will never win a national championship at Texass…

    Weak scheduling.
Yes, Rickie doesn’t play against the best and therefore will no get a NC.

It stems from Texas AD and his approach of SCHEDULING WEAK TEAMS.
Texas does this with football, very obvious.

And Rickie has caved into the Texas approach.
    Get wins against inferior teams.

Are ther other reasons?…coaching have anything to do with winning a NC.

    Right Kansass…jHawrk…

  • Jessie, I’ve figured out your motivation behind these posts. Any school that you view as a threat in recruiting gets attacked. You desperately want Selby so you constantly try to bring up negatives about the Jayhawks program. Now it’s on to Barnes & his scheduling.

It’s funny because nobody here has ever really challenged you regarding the Jim Storrey/Lute Olson/Miles Simon/Cactus Classic bull$hit that UA tried to pull.

Speaking of scheduling, how does the Mildcats schedule look down the stretch? Are they about ready to go under .500? You better pray that they win the Pac-10 tourney or it’s NIT time.

  • Joseph will be going to Villanova – clearly, the situation in UCONN with the Warden’s health is not good and that program is on the decline.

    CJ2VU.

  • AZ,

So is one of our favorite coaches going to the NBA?
Are thoses TWO gone to the NBA.

Has the Kentucky CLEAN UP started…..

The timing is right for a good exit for sexy Rickie.

    Note:
Do you think Rickie is GONE?
Do you think Caliparie is GONE?
Who leaves FIRST – Ricky or Cali?

  • PS- AZ

OMG, she is looking HOT HOT.

Wait until you see her on V-Day- nice RED , D&G dress.
    On Fire.

    I like her “coming out..”.
    Confidence make you look sexy.

  • Woody,

    Come on.
Any person from the West understands the weak Texass scheduling.
Rickie SOFT scheduling results in ZERO , National Championship.
Our dislike of Texass is evident in Daniel Bejarano.

    The LETTER–
JW was apart of the LETTER clean up. If you read the other comments throughout tthe months, JW was in the thick of things.
Can you say Josh P? (Pastaboy still remains silent.)

    FINALLY……..
Is WOODy finally saying that Josh Selby is going to ARIZONA…
Sounds like Kansass is seeing the LIGHT.
We are expecting BOOK to get things DONE and NYC reaching out is appreciated.
