GARDEN GROVE, Ca. – Naz Reid, a five-star Class of 2018 power forward from Roselle (N.J.) Catholic High School, named four schools as frontrunners in the recruiting process.
The 6-foot-8 power forward, playing with the Sports U 16U squad, lists Kentucky, Syracuse, St. John’s, and North Carolina as the schools that are leading the way in his recruitment.
Reid holds offers from the likes of UConn, Iowa, Kansas, Louisville, LSU, Maryland, North Carolina State, Oklahoma, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John’s, Syracuse, Villanova, Virginia and Wichita State, among others. Kentucky and UNC have yet to offer.
Seton Hall, St. John’s and UConn have also offered Reid as part of a Sports U “Fab Five” offer that includes teammates Jahvon Quinerly, Luther Muhammad, Atiba Taylor and Louis King.
Reid hasn’t taken any visits, but has received visits from Syracuse, Kansas, and Kentucky twice. Reid did not mention any upcoming visits, but did say that he plans to commit either later next year or after the season.
“Everybody’s been recruiting hard. I just stay positive.” Reid said.
Playing with Sports U, Reid has averaged 11.8 and 8.8 rebounds per game. Through the third session of the Under Armour Association, Reid leads the 16U division with 106 total rebounds and is second in rebounds per game with 8.8. Sports U is 9-3 overall through three sessions and finished the Los Angeles Circuit with a record of 3-1.
