Knicks Hold Off Shorthanded Blazers for 3rd Straight; Nate Continues to Sit

NEW YORK (NBA.com exclusive) — One day after beating a team with just a single victory, the Knicks took advantage of an outfit that dressed only nine players and was missing its head coach.

The Knicks won their third straight and fourth in five games with a 93-84 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers before a Madison Square Garden crowd of 19,763 that included Chris Rock, Celine Dion and Rihanna.

“We just have to continue to build and win games,” said Knicks guard Larry Hughes, who had his second straight 20-point outing with a team-high 21 points that included 4-for-8 from beyond the arc. “We can’t look ahead. We’re really focused on this month and that’s as far as we want to look ahead. We definitely want to come out of this month with a lot of wins in the column and that will push us to kind of balance out that 1-9 start we had.”
