Fontan Taking Weekend; Big Day on Tap

Fordham point guard Jio Fontan is still mulling whether or not to return to the team under interim head coach Jared Grasso.

“Jio wont be playing today [Saturday[. He’s coming home today [Saturday] and we’re going to have a good talk about what’s been going on the last 48 hours and go from there,” said Jorge Fontan, Jio’s father.

Fordham plays its first game under Grasso Saturday night at Rose Hill Gym at 7 against Bowling Green.

One day after Fontan declared he was leaving the team, Fordham fired coach Dereck Whittenburg on Thursday.

For more of my interview with Grasso, his first since taking over, read here.
