Lamb Still Deciding; Beal to Florida (UPDATED)

Doron Lamb is still mulling his college decision while trying to plan a visit to Arizona.

The 6-foot-4 Lamb out of Oak Hill (Va.) Academy has visited UConn, Kansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma. He is the No. 3 shooting guard in the Class of 2010.

“He likes the ones he visited,” his father, Calvin Lamb, said Monday morning. “He’s still up in the air.”

Calvin said a visit to Arizona would depend on both the Oak Hill and Arizona schedules.

“We’re trying to set up an appointment,” he said. “We could get it done. It’s up to his coach [Steve Smith].”

Asked if Doron was close to committing before the Arizona visit, Calvin said:  “Not that I know of.  I think he’ll wait it out a little bit.”

BEAL TO FLORIDA

Bradley Beal, the No. 1 junior shooting guard and No. 7 prospect in the nation, is headed to Florida.

The 6-3, 170-pound Beal out of St. Louis Chaminade picked the Gators over Kansas, Missouri and and Illinois.

Beal led Chaminade to the 5A state championship as a sophomore last season.

“Really, it’s the whole coaching staff from Coach (Billy) Donovan to Coach (Rob) Lanier to Coach (Richard) Pitino and Coach (Larry) Shyatt that makes Florida so attractive,” Beal told GatorCountry.com. “They have a real passion for winning and I like the way they work hard together. They really wanted me and want me to be a key factor to the team in the future.

“I really like the way Coach Donovan brings out the best in you. I think he really wants you to succeed and I think he really cares about his players.”

  • Rivals is reporting that Beal is headed to KU; Telep says he’s going to Florida. From what I can tell, nobody really has any idea where he’ll wind up.

But man, I hope that my subscription to Rivals is worth the money and that they’re “reporting” correctly. Beal’s going to give me a heart attack; I’ve been watching this kid for the last 2 years.

Nabbing Beal early would be HUGE, especially after losing out on Barnes. Then Self could focus on grabbing either Knight, Selby, or Lamb…

  • Thanks for the help, AZ. BTW, Beal to KU is what’s we’re hearing too!

  • Florida it is, for Beal. I would have bet the farm on KU, oh well.

  • yep, UF for Beal.

    That’s a stinger…

  • I am extremely surprised we lost Beal. and you said it rockchalkin, that really is a stinger.

in about 5 minutes jessie will be on here telling everyone how he didnt want to go to “gangster U” and make something else up

  • Hawk, ..that was a tough break on Beal.
2011 recruits – is not starting off well.
KU will get its next 2011 recruit.

The next big NEWs is D-Lamb.
Arizona just got back from Maui and the holidays.
    And The Book is busy.

  • AZ,

    Is Roscoe officially DC?

PS- R. Smith is also not going to KU.

  • You mean Self could start focusing on paying Knight, Selby or Lamb? I guess the recession has affected his spending man-purse.

  • I am curious: when did Self ever pay a player? What was said player’s name?

Maybe I’m oblivious to my surroundings; please enlighten me.

  • if i recall, davidpk, you are a UK fan?

pretty bold talk if you ask me

  • Hawk,

With Beal going to UF, Kansas MUST get Knight.

How do you like your chances?
    (KU, UK ,UF ….again.)

Imagine if Knight goes to Miami and JS goes to UK,…where doe that leave KU?

  • They are all paying and the game has lost it’s innocence. The sooner you face the facts, the less chance that you would be disappointed. Self and Calipari are both crooks.

  • He is not lying. KU is the gangster U, isn’t it?

  • jessie- KU still in the running for lamb too. if we dont get selby or knight we must get lamb. if we dont get any of those three we may just have 1 signee in our 2010 class- Royce Wooldridge (who by the way, i feel is grossly underrated by all the recruiting services).

even so, we are still in pretty good shape even if we lose Aldrich, and X. Henry to the draft. We still have 4 quality bigs (withey, morris twins, and Robinson) and 8 pretty good guards (Taylor, Johnson, Morningstar, Reed, CJ Henry, Releford, Little and Wooldridge)

probably not a national title favorite, but a definite big 12 title contender and top 15 team. could be even better if Taylor, The Twins, EJ and Robinson develop faster than expected

  • davidpk-

someones angry today! someone must have peed in your cheerio’s!

non-provoked KU bashing. are you a mizzou fan?

  • Hawk,

D-Lamb may be gone before Knight and JS make their decisions.

So, based on your comments, KU would take a PASS on D-Lamb and wait to hear from Knight and JS.
Being a school’s third choice is not a good thing.

KU may end up with one commit like you stated. Royce is a good get.

    Note:
KU football coach is ADDED to the Kansas “Gangster U” hype.
How can a coach say….”I will send you back to the ghetto.”
And this has been going on for YEARs at Kansas.

  • Jessie-

im not sure if we would pass up on lamb if he is ready to commit. maybe so, but your right, being a schools third choice is not good. hopefully that isn’t the case, but Self and the KU staff are the only ones who know for sure.

  • um….

so I guess I’m supposed to take that comment as a “no, I will not enlighten you”?

  • From several weeks back, it was getting clearer that D-Lamb was a second tier priority recruit for KU.
As time passes and KU targeted recruits select different schools, Self will change his priority
This may also be the case with UK, to a lesser extent..
(And with EB staying for at least his JR year and JS or Knight going to UK)
D-Lamb with UK : does not seem like a fit?

    Remember:
In order to get S.Poole, Calicats had to discuss his role as a SG.
The choice for UK was between S.Poole and D-Lamb.
    And UK went with S.Poole.

  • AZ,

Arizona had a double OT thriller with UNLV.
MoMo was a Good spark for Arizona.

Looks like Arizona needs a scorer like D-Lamb.
And with changes coming next year, D-Lamb looks like a very good fit.

    I’m just saying….
