HOUSTON— In the wake of getting mocked on Twitter (and this site) for his M&M Madness, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie called into the “Boomer & Carton” radio show on Wednesday to defend himself.
Since the original M&Ms incident, this picture, taken last weekend in Philadelphia by Pete Blackburn, has since been retweeted almost 14,000 times and liked more than 17,000 times.

Christie explained that he had simply removed a bag of M&Ms from the box it was packaged in, and emptied the bag into the box.
“There’s a bag inside the box, you dope,” Christie told the radio show hosts on Wednesday.
“Why would you go bag-to-box, just eat them out of the bag!” Craig Carton countered.
“You know why? Because it’s easier to hold the box than it is to hold the bag,” Christie said.
“Got it,” Carton said. “That’s an interesting maneuver.”
“Why they do it that way, I have no idea,” Christie said. “Listen, you know, I run New Jersey, not M&M Mars.”
Christie later added: “I like to linger over my M&Ms and enjoy them, I don’t like to pour them down my mouth.”
He also told Carton, “Why let the facts get int he way of what comes out of your mouth?”
He’s right after all. The facts are the facts, but this was still a tremendous picture.
