Thon Maker has set three more official visits and is targeting a decision in late April, his guardian said Thursday night.
The 7-foot Maker out of Athlete Institute of Ontario, Canada will visit UNLV (March 18), Arizona State (April 18) and Notre Dame (April 25). He will meet with interim head coach Todd Simon and his staff on the UNLV visit.
Ed Smith, Maker’s guardian, said the player will look to decide “after the Notre Dame visit.”
Maker has already taken an official to Kansas and unofficials to Indiana and St. John’s but no official to either is planned.
“We’ve been to both St. John’s and Indiana so we know them,” Smith said. “Time permitting Thon may decide to visit one of them.”
Maker, who has drawn comparisons to Kevin Garnett and Kevin Durant, is projected as the No. 29 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com.
Although there have been questions about his college eligibility related to potential amateurism issues, Smith and Maker have remained hopeful he will play at least a year of college ball.
Earlier this month after the Kansas visit, Maker told me he hoped to decide sometime in April.
“Yeah, by April,” he said. “Whenever in April.”
He’s looking forward to getting it over with.
“Yeah, just get it out off my chest,” he said. “I can’t wait. The good thing is I got time so I have to use that time to consider every choice I have.”
