Rod Odom has decommitted from Arizona and is now headed to Vanderbilt instead.
“Yes,” the 6-foot-8 Long Island native wrote Monday in a text message. “It’s a better fit for me academically and its closer to home.”
Odom, ranked No. 88 overall in the Class of 2010 and No. 19 among small forwards, initially committed to Arizona earlier this month.
Odom, out of Concord (Mass.) Middlesex, called Arizona head coach Sean Miller Sunday night and told him he had changed his mind and would no longer be headed West.
“I knew that he had a conversation with Coach Miller last night,” Rod Odom Sr. said Monday. “But I know that a couple weeks ago he mentioned that he was having mixed feelings. It was a real tight race between Vanderbilt and Arizona.
“I said, ‘Listen, if you feel the same way in the next couple weeks you need to get on the phone with Coach Miller and you guys need to talk’ and I guess he made that call yesterday.”
Odom initially chose Arizona over Vanderbilt, Boston College, West Virginia and Harvard.

Best of Luck to Rod.
We look forward to seeing him play, next year.
Note:
So the PAYNE will finally be over on Friday.
And the NCAA has NOT provided any sanctions on the Big East recruiting violations.
The Big East has put the NCAA in one big embarrassing situation.
This past weekend, you notice desperate Duke with its life size poster of Barnes.
The coming weekend , you will see even more schools showing the college spirit. lol
Who will announce FIRST – the embarrassing NCAA or Payne?

Good for Kevin Stallings–I’m glad he got Odom. Tough break , Jessie.
The NCAA isn’t going to do anything to WVU.

Vanderbilt is a much better school and fits closer to the academic ideals of Middlesex. Good luck to the Odoms.

Woody,
The decison by Jr. was best for him.
Arizona is ok with the current decision.
PS-
You have never heard of request for documents- open records?
Landy Jennifer should have one for BigEast- WV.
