  • Five-star Caleb Wilson cuts to 3 schools, sets announcement date

    By ADAM ZAGORIA

Five-star jumbo wing Caleb Wilson has cut his list to three schools and will announce on Thursday night on TNT after the Celtics-Lakers game, his father told ZAGSBLOG.

That means it may not happen until around 1 a.m. ET.

The 6-foot-9 wing from Atlanta (GA) Holy Innocents Episcopal School and Nightrydas Elite is down to Kentucky, Ohio State and North Carolina.

North Carolina is the favorite at this point, per ZAGSBLOG sources. If he commits to the Tar Heels, he would join four-star guards Isaiah Denis and Derek Dixon.

When he visited UNC last October, his father Jerry told ZAGSBLOG:

“The visit was short and sweet,” he ZAGSBLOG. “We were there on Saturday only. That campus is just picturesque. We got to ask some tough questions of the coaches and players, then see them live in action at practice. It was impressive, and the pace and energy were thrilling. We received all the answers needed from the visit.

“The message is that Caleb is wanted and needed here, so come be a part of this special place. He would be a vital part of the team next year. Allow the next chapter of your story to be on the biggest and brightest stage in college basketball. In the words of Coach [Hubert] Davis, at this level, you’re deciding on good vs good. You just have to figure out what’s best for you. Coach believes UNC fits that role best for Caleb.”

Wilson cut Tennessee and UCF from his list of five and previously cut Duke, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Tennessee, and USC from his previous list.
