Eight Teams Chosen for Dick’s Nationals

Eight teams have been selected for the Dick’s Sporting Goods High School Nationals beginning later this month.

The field was first announced earlier Wednedsay by SNY.tv.

The teams include Montverde (FL) Academy, Findlay Prep (NV), Oak Hill Academy (VA), St. Benedict’s Prep (N.J.), La Lumiere (IN), Miller Grove (GA), Providence Day (N.C.) and Wasatch Academy (UT).

Chino HIlls (CA), the No. 1 team in the USA Today rankings, is not eligible because of state association rules. Neither is No. 4 St. Anthony’s. Both teams are undefeated.

The event runs March 31-April 2, with the first two days at Christ the King High School in Queens and the championhip game at Madison Square Garden. The first-round games are on ESPNU, the semifinals are on ESPN2 and the championship game is on ESPN.

Led by current LSU freshman Ben Simmons,the projected No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft, Montverde and coach Kevin Boyle have won the last three championships.

March 31, Quarterfinals

Christ the King

Noon: St. Benedict’s – La Lumiere

2 p.m.: Oak Hill – Wasatch 

4 p.m.: Montverde – Providence Day 

6 p.m.: Findlay Prep – Miller Grove

 

April 1, Semifinals

Christ the King

3 p.m.: St. Benedict’s-La Lumiere winner vs. Montverde-Providence Day winner

5 p.m.: Findlay Prep-Miller Grove winner vs. the Oak Hill-Wasatch winner.

 

April 2, Final
