Rod Odom Down to 4 Schools

Rod Odom took his final official visit to Boston College this weekend and is now set to decide among four schools.

The 6-foot-8, 195-pound Odom out of Concord (Mass.) Middlesex says he will choose one of the following four schools: Arizona, Boston College, Vanderbilt or West Virginia.

“I’m pretty much done taking visits,” Odom said Sunday afternoon. “I’m just looking to talk things over with my family the next couple of days.”

Odom, a Long Island native, says there is no favorite.

“I wouldn’t say there’s any favorite,” he said. “Every school has real good things to offer. At this point they’re all pretty much even.”

Harvard is out of the mix because the Ivy League school cannot offer scholarships and the financial aid package offered was more than Rod Odom Sr. expected.

Odom visited BC this weekend and ran with the basketball team. He also watched along with former BC quarterback Doug Flutie as the Eagles beat Florida State in football.

“It was exciting,” Odom said.

As for BC coach Al Skinner told him about his role, Odom said. “He just said they’d use me at the three and I’d fit into his style of offense. It would be good to play with them because they don’t have a player like me.”

ARIZONA SCHOOLS IN THE MIX FOR BEJARANO

Arizona and Arizona State are now in the mix for Daniel Bejarano, a 6-5, 200-pound shooting guard from Phoenix ranked No. 13 at his position in the Class of 2010.

Bejarano just decommitted from Texas.

Ray Arvizu Jr., Bejarano’s mentor, told the Arizona Daily Star that Wildcats coach Sean Miller met with Bejarano for three hours Thursday night.

“I was there and I think it went really, really well,” Arvizu told the newspaper. “Daniel was impressed with his energetic style and his desire to bring Arizona back. … Sean came by himself, and he expressed to Daniel the importance of getting to know him as a head coach.”

Arizona State coach Herb Sendek is also recruiting Bejarano.

“I think that U of A is the better fit,” Arvizu told the Daily star, “but at the same time, ASU is right here.”

LAMB MAY VISIT ARIZONA

Doron Lamb spent this weekend at Oklahoma, along with Ames Iowa wing Harrison Barnes.

Lamb also plans to visit Kansas Oct. 16 and possibly Arizona as well.

“Of course, Arizona is still in the running,” Calvin Lamb told the Daily Star. “I was just telling the [Arizona] coach, don’t go by the order” of visits.

  • AZ,

    Good stuff.
Looks like Rod had a good visit with BC.
Look forward the Breaking news on the commit.
Rod Sr. seem to have all his ducks lined up since, lasts week.
The RO camp is organized and RO appears ready for the decision.
    Best of Luck to RO…

And it is good to hear Calvin’s comments on visiting ARIZONA.
He will probably visit Arizona after the Kansass “Gangster U” visit.
Lamb is a very good player and it would be good to see some of his former friends/players.

    Note;
If anyone is interested in a Wild West ShotOut….it has been taking place with Daniel Bejarano recruitment; (The Battle for Bejarano).
(With the two school pit against eachother: Arizona vs texass….for years. Rick has been known to say whatever it takes….)

There was NO WAY TEXASs would end up with Bejarano.
It was only a matter of time before Texas revealed its intentions …and it was an ugly mess, to say the least.

Texas is OUT , with DB, and for good reasons…

    *On the bright side:
Things happen for a reason, Daniel was NOT a good match with Rick “bad mouth”.
Better to realize this MIS MATCH with Texass…before DB signed the LOI.
DB lost his father over the summer, an in-home invasion – Phoenix.

  • Seriously… You are ruining this blogsite. No one cares what you have to say and you sound like an idiot making you rambling tack-on posts to Zag’s blog. If you want to do this, please go post your own blog on your own little section of the web so we don’t have to read your incoherrent rambling

  • You’re pathetic. The kid’s dad was killed so he wants to stay closer to home–end of story. I just hope he ends up at ASU so your program isn’t rewarded for this tragic chain of events.

Outsider, I agree with you. The problem is Jessie has to post his crap here because he can’t get anybody to go to that lame Wildcats site he pimps out all the time…

  • As you just read, this article does mention Arizona.
So, it would be very applicable to add some comment.
    Unlike…..yous….

Done with your “I do not want NYC Thugs”….foot in your mouth statements.
    Not bright at all Woody.

DB left…..and there are quotes to support it.
    Lets show Woody’s ignorance…
But really, Woody is a Texas supporter…Wow. I have seen everything.

“….he didn’t feel Texas was still committed to him.

And “They weren’t communicating with me,” he said.
“They’re getting all these players and forgot about me.
… It seemed they wanted something else.”

    I’m just saying……….

  • PS- Received texts from UofA Wildcats on DB leaving Texas.

Lets see if anything good comes on Thursday.

  • Timing is everything…..Looks like you were on to something with Daniel Bejarano.

Looks like Arizona has another IN HOME visit with Daniel Bejarano, Today.
But, within hours of starting the visit…the other school (school B) involved in the recruitment has retracted its scholarship offer. “Pulled its Offer”.

Not sure what to make of this behavior.
It was ONLY yesterday, in which the OTHER SCHOOL (School B) had an IN HOME visit with Daniel Bejarano and had restated its desire and scholarship offer.
And less than 12 hours later, the scholarship is pulled.

This player has undergone a great deal in these few months.
The deadly lost of his father during an inhome robbery in Phoenix.

Lets hope Daniel Bejarano finds a school which a MUCH better fit than Texas and asu.

Best of Luck – whichever school you decide.

  • Done Deal.
    DB will be a Wildcat.

  • The news is out.

    DB made the perfect choice.

    Welcome to Wildcat Nation.

    Note:
    Hoya- nice quote.
As DB says, things happen for a reason.
