Devon Collier’s list is now down to four schools, with Maryland out of the mix.
“The schools that have been recruiting him the hardest are St. John’s, Seton Hall, Providence and Oregon State,” said New Heights coach Adam Berkowitz.
Maryland will get visits from Collier’s St. Anthony teammate, Ashton Pankey, Oct. 16 and Long Island forward Tobias Harris sometime in November.
Oregon State head coach Craig Robinson, Barack Obama’s brother-in-law, is out today to watch the 6-foot-8 Collier during a workout at St. Anthony.
After that visit, Berkowitz and Collier will plan visits.
“Oregon State has come out here four Fridays in a row, flown cross-country to see him,” Berkowitz said. “That indicates a really strong degree of interest on their part.”
Check out the Video Player at right where Tom Konchalski discusses Collier and New Heights teammates Jayvaughn Pinkston and Ashton Pankey, as well as South Kent players Russell Smith, J.J. Moore and Jesse Morgan.
“Russell Smith is as under-recruited player at least as there is on the East Coast,” Konchalski said. “This year he’s just making other people better. He’s a big-time player.”
Tom also talked about Harris, Kyrie Irving and Andre Drummond…so stay on the Video Player for that knowledge.Â

AZ,
Looks like the NYC players are getting close to their final decision.
How is looking for Rod Odom?
He has a visit to BC tomorrow.
And his visits are DONE.
Is it a two horse race with ARIZONA vs BC?
Rod Sr said it would be a Fall commit…
So, his commit should NOT take LONG.

Does anybody else care?
NYC in AZ–have fun playing thug ball in the Pac 10. Those games on Thursday nights on Fox are brutal…Marques Johnson is brutal…

JessieWildcat:
Rod Odom’s father is a regular poster in Newsday’s high school basketball forum. You should ask him directly.

Not sure a KU fan should be calling anyone a thug.

Woody,
Your comment seems accurately represent the Kansas Gangster U perspective on the NYC player.
NYC in AZ- playing THUG ball in the PAC10.
We ALL appreciate your honesty and thank you for sharing HOW the Jayhawk fans feel about NYC players.
I , for one, would not protray the NYC players as such.
I am sure CALVIN would also disagree along with Coach Smith.
— Doron Lamb is a NYC player.

Again, an ARIZONA and USC fan talking trash on another team for being ‘thugs’ is the height of hilarity.

What program was in the news because of fights with the football team? Oh that’s right it was Kansas!
/
Big Ben / October 4, 2009
As opposed to Arizona and USC that are in the news for such things on a pretty regular basis. Few (if any) major college teams can throw rocks when it comes to off-the-field shenanigans. Doing so about something so insignificant shows either a lack of perspective or just general ignorance of your own program.

You’d think that these fights were breaking news in Arizona. Jessie, can you give us that link again so I can watch the players get into van?
The fighting is over. Again, the players have moved on…I guess Arizona Mildcats fans can’t.

Big Ben….
You spoke too early.
And talk about understanding “the SIGNIFICANTS” of events.
Are you saying that the Kansas “Gangster U” Fights are insignificant?
Well, millions of American would disagree. Violence is not a solution to anything nor should it be taken lightly (insignificant by your terms.)
Morevoer, If the FIGHT CLUB situation would of been HANLDED correctly;then, MorningDrunk would of not been suspended.
If the team and MorningDrunk would of been given STRONG warnings & directions ,when the Fight Club situation transpired…the MorningDrunk thing would of been AVOIDED.
This FAILURE is the responsibility on LEW.
This also shows how the Kanass player(s) DO NOT believe the FightClub incidents are SIGNIFICANT. MorningDrunk behavior proves this point.
Lew should of SENT a STRONG message, from the START.
He did not. And so Kansas “Gangster U” has added national embarrassment.
ESPX even did a story on MorningDrunk, today.
Note:
Wait…Lets see if the Three video surfaces.

“Morningdrunk” (Morningstar) and the fights are two unrelated incidents. Morningstar wasnt involved in any of the fighting.
besides, how would you like KU to handle this? Morningstar was suspended the whole first semester, They kept the punishments for fighting “in house” so we have no idea what the punishment was. We know they started boot camp early. I believe Lew did send a strong message, that is why Morningstar was suspended for half the season. i seriously doubt any more problems come up

Jessie, should write for The University Daily Kansan since you spend so much time talking about the Jayhawks.
Why don’t you spend more time worrying about your own program? I’ve got a feeling that your postseason streak ends this year (which is only fair considering you didn’t deserve to get in a couple of times).

Big Ben / October 4, 2009
Yes, a fight that’s worst injury is a broken thumb is 100% insignificant to anyone with a Y chromosome. Not surprised you disagree.

jhawk4 / October 5, 2009
tyshawn only dislocated his thumb! thats not even as bad as breaking it lol.
