Syracuse lands 7-footer William Patterson for Class of 2023

By ADAM ZAGORIA

William Patterson, a 7-foot-1 big man from The Patrick School in Hillside, N.J., verbally committed to Syracuse on Monday, his coach told ZAGSBLOG.

TCU was also involved for Patterson, who visited the Syracuse campus over the weekend with his uncle and AAU coach.

“William has a very good upside,” Patrick School coach Chris Chavannes said. “He is still physically developing his body and his game. William’s length, athleticism and ability to run the floor will definitely will help him in their system.”

Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim has dipped into New Jersey in recent years for other bigs, including Bourama Sidibe of St. Benedict’s Prep and former forward Tyler Roberson of Roselle Catholic.

“I’m very excited for Will,” said New Heights coach Rahme Anderson. “He runs the rim at an elite level and has the ability to be a rim protector.”

Patterson is Syracuse’s first 2023 commit.
