Damarius Owens, a top-150 recruit in the class of 2024, has committed to Marquette, he announced Wednesday.
The 6-foot-8 wing, who is heralded for his length and athleticism, chose the Golden Eagles over Syracuse and Virginia Tech.
“I chose Marquette because of the relationship that the coaching staff has with my family and me,” Owens said to On3 Sports. “Those guys have a plan for me and see something in me. Marquette is also a basketball school and they have that free/up-and-down play style that I believe I would thrive in.”
Owens, who plays for Western Reserve Academy (OH.) is Marquette’s first commit in the class of 2024, which follows a strong 2023 class in which Shaka Smart signed four-star Tre Norman and three-stars Al Amadou and Zaide Lowery.
