Duke star freshman Dariq Whitehead out for Saturday’s matchup against Georgia Tech with leg injury

By CHARLIE PARENT

Dariq Whitehead, Duke’s star freshman and the former No. 2 overall player in the class of 2022, is out for Saturday’s game against Georgia Tech with a leg injury.

The 6-foot-6 guard had to leave the second half of Monday’s 78-75 loss to Virginia Tech and currently has no timetable to return.

“We’ve got positive news,” head coach Jon Scheyer said, adding there was no structural damage to Whitehead’s leg. “But he’s not ready for Saturday.”

The Blue Devils sit at 14-6 going into Saturday’s road fixture against a lowly 8-12 Georgia Tech squad.
