Mouhamed Dioubate, the 6-foot-7 wing from Putnam Science Academy (CT) and the PSA Cardinals, announced his commitment to Alabama on Sunday.
Ranked the No. 20 power forward in the Class of 2023 per the 247Sports.com Composite, Dioubate chose the Tide over Wake Forest, Maryland and Virginia Tech after cutting Kansas State after visiting the SEC school earlier this month.
“I will be going to the University of Alabama,” he told Adam Finkelstein of 247Sports.com.
“They had a good plan for me. My family liked it, I liked it, we just connected.”
The left-hander averaged over 14 points with 7.5 rebounds while shooting 53 percent this summer on the Nike EYBL circuit.
“I like Alabama,” Dioubate, who won the National Prep championship with Putnam Science last season, previously told ZAGSBLOG. “I like the player comparison they gave me [Herbert Jones]. The player development. I like them.”

The 6-7 Jones earned third-team All-American honors as a senior in 2021, when he was also named the SEC Player of the Year. He now plays for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Dioubate is the fourth commit for coach Nate Oats’ 2023 class along with point guard R.J. Johnson, shooting guard Davin Cosby Jr. and power forward Sam Walters.
“Mouhamed Dioubate is one of the best young men you will ever meet in your life,” PSA Cardinals director Terrance “Munch” Williams said.
“He’s on course to make his family proud. As for on the court, it’s simple, he’s one of the most productive players in the country. He will leave the PSA Cardinals ready to score, rebound, defend and usher in winning on the college level. He will own his destiny.”
