Class of ’24 wing Darren Harris breaks down top 4 schools

Darren Harris, the 6-foot-6 4-star small forward from Paul VI Catholic (VA), cut his list to four schools.

Ranked the No. 10 small forward in 2024 by 247Sports.com, Harris is down to Duke, Miami, Maryland and Ohio State.

He recently visited Maryland and Ohio State and goes to Duke for an official Oct. 14 after visiting unofficially in February.

He broke down his four options on ZAGSBLOG:

Maryland: “Maryland is the closest school to me that’s actively recruiting me. I really like their staff and what they’re building over there. Coach [Kevin] Willard is a really good guy and coach. My teammate Deshawn [Harris-Smith] just committed there and I hear nothing but good things.”

Duke: “Duke is obviously a historic program, and has a great culture. Coach [Jon] Scheyer has been recruiting me since after my freshman year. And he always says I’m perfect for Duke. They’ve been in our gym for workouts just as much as anybody, which means a lot. I have an official on the 14th.”

Ohio State: “I loved my visit there. I talk to the coaches every single day. The facilities are crazy. And the program is in a really good spot right now. They made it clear I’m a big priority there. And their fanbase shows a lot of support .”

Miami: “Coach L is very close with my family, he coached my dad in college at George Mason, and my dad now coaches his Grandkids for AAU. I talk to him and coach [Bill] Courtney a lot, and they make me feel like family. They’re coming off a great run in the tournament, which is cool.”

Duke already has the No. 1 recruiting classes in 2022 and ’23 under coach-in-waiting Jon Scheyer.

“Darren already possesses an elite skill with his shooting ability and range and he has the potential to round out his game over the next two-plus years,” Paul VI coach Glenn Farello said. “At 6’5 and 200 pounds, Darren can grown into being a versatile defender and will continue to make strides in going off the bounce and creating opportunities for others since he will draw so much attention shooting.”
