Following recruiting visits with Class of 2023 targets D.J. Wagner and Aaron Bradshaw, Kentucky coach John Calipari Tweeted he had “great recruiting visits” on Friday.
Calipari posted he was in the Northeast where he’s targeting the two Camden stars, and that he then went to the Naismith Hall of Fame ceremonies in Springfield, Mass.
The 6-foot-3 Wagner is ranked No. 1 nationally in 2023, and the 7-2 Bradshaw is No. 5, per ESPN.
“Coach (John Calipari) is a great coach and that’s a great university,” Wagner told ZAGSBLOG at Peach Jam in July. “They’ve had some great teams come through there.”
Louisville and Auburn are among the other schools involved for Wagner, who led Camden to the New Jersey Group 2 state title last season. Louisville hired Milt Wagner, D.J.’s grandfather and a legend at the school, to a Director of Recruiting and Alumni Relations position.
“As far as his decision, Wagner said he’s looking for a “winning system.” “Any system I could come in and help try to win,” he said.
Wagner has not announced any timetable on a decision.
Bradshaw is also being recruited by Kentucky and Louisville, among others and is also considering the NBA G League.
“Me and my mom talked it over and just thought I can’t be rushing into things,” Bradshaw said in July. “I just have to take my time. I pushed it back a little bit. Not too far, but I pushed it back.”
Bradshaw released a top seven options list of Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Oklahoma State, UCLA and the NBA G League in mid-May.
Bradshaw has visited Memphis, as well as Kentucky and Louisville.
“Those are my places right there,” Bradshaw said of the Kentucky schools. “Those are my guys. I know a lot of people there. I know a lot of people that went there. And I just know a lot about the schools. It’s not just those two, there’s other schools I really like too.”
