Ty-Laur Johnson, the 6-foot Class of 2023 point guard from the NY Rens and Our Savior Lutheran High School, has set two official visits, his father told ZAGSBLOG.
Ranked the No. 13 point guard in the Class of 2023 per 247Sports.com, Johnson will visit Pittsburgh (Sept. 1-3) and Ole Miss (Sept. 24-27).
In an interview with Rivals.com, Johnson said he’s looking forward to getting to Pitt.
“That’s going to be my first one and I’m excited to get there,” he said. “I’ve known Coach [Tim] O’Toole for a long time now and he’s a really cool guy. His son plays for my [grassroots] team.”
As for the Ole Miss trip, he said, “My visit is going to be for the homecoming game, so I expect the stadium to be crazy. I like football. I’ve always liked football, so that’s something I’m looking forward to.”
Johnson also took a trip to Seton Hall for a meeting with coach Shaheen Holloway and the family is working on a date for an official visit, his father said.
“I think I play like Kyrie Irving and some parts of Chris Paul,” he told Rivals. “I like getting into the lane and making things happen – getting into the lane and passing.”
