Four-star point guard Trey Green breaks down top schools ahead of announcement

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Trey Green, the four-star point guard from Link Academy and MoKan Elite, will announce his college choice on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Charlotte, N.C.

Ranked the No. 12 point guard in the Class of 2023 by 247Sports.com, the 5-foot-11, 165-pound Green is considering Xavier, VCU, LSU, Miami and Virginia, and broke down his options for ZAGSBLOG.

Xavier: “Honestly, I love Coach Sean Miller and everything. The Big East Conference is a great conference to grow and strive in, especially from a basketball standpoint. And just the relationship I’ve built with coach Sean Miller.”

LSU: “I love Coach Mac [Matt McMahon] and what he’s going to bring over from Murray State. They play fast, I developed a great relationship with those guys also and I love their game plans.”

VCU: “Coach [Mike] Rhoades and coach [J.D.] Byers, they’re recruiting me really, really hard, talking to my dad and everything like that. They play fast and the relationship I’ve built with those guys is something special because they’ve been on me since I can’t even remember.”

Virginia: “Coach Tony Bennett is an amazing coach, great coach. The ACC is a great conference. It’s close to home. They don’t play as fast but they love aggressive, defensive guards and they get guards in the league also.”

Miami: “Coach [Jim] Larranaga is a great coach. I love when he loves small guards. They play fast, he lets his guards rock. I developed a great relationship with those guys over there also, like a great one. I feel like the way he runs his offense, I’d be a great fit.”

Green helped MoKan win the Peach Jam last month. Wherever he lands, he feels he can make an impact.

“I’m an aggressive defensive player, a great point guard, one that can shoot the rock at a high clip and one that’s going to do whatever it takes to win.”
