Seton Hall head coach Bobby Gonzalez and assistant Derm Player will visit Melvin Oliver, a 6-11, 330-pound forward from Jackson Elite Christian Academy (Miss.) this weekend.
“Bobby and Derm should be here Sunday the 13th,” said Victor Evans, Oliver’s coach. “He’ll see him workout. He’ll visit with Melvin and the father and watch Melvin do some working out.”
Oliver is considering four schools, Nebraska, Baylor, Seton Hall and Southern Miss and plans to visit all four, although Evans said no dates had been set.
“They will start next weekend (the 19th),” Evans said. “That’s what we’re trying to decide right now.”
Despite an Internet report quoting the school’s headmaster saying that Nebraska and Southern Miss were Oliver’s favorites, Evans said that was not necessarily the case.
“He has not told me,” Evans said. “He wants to look at all four schools real close. I don’t think Melvin’s going to be in a hurry to make any decision at this point.”
