KANSAS CITY – Class of 2023 four-star shooting guard Chris Lockett Jr. is being recruited the most by four schools, he tells ZAGSBLOG.
Lockett, the 6-foot-5, 200-pound shooting guard from Isidore Newman (LA) and LivOn/Fleur De Lis AAU program, says that Ohio State, Michigan State, Gonzaga and Michigan are in contact the most. He also said that his previous list of schools – Kansas, Arkansas and Tulane – are no longer in contact.
Among the three schools currently in pursuit, Ohio State is his only offer.
“They text me everyday,” Lockett said. “So that’s been good.”
Lockett broke down all three schools:
Michigan State: “I took a visit with my high school team from New Orleans and we went up there, talked to Tom Izzo. He talked to me personally. He was like ‘I’ve been watching a lot of film on you’ and they are trying to recruit me.”
Michigan: “We had played in a team camp and I did very well. So Juwan Howard and his staff talked to me.”
Gonzaga: “They did an in-home visit. I talked to coach [Roger] Powell and watched film with him on the guard breakdowns.”
Lockett said he will not be releasing another list of top schools before making his final college decision. He said he plans on taking official visits and has previously taken unofficial visits to Texas, LSU and Miami.
“I just want to get (my commitment) out of the way so there’s no stress and I can just focus on winning a state championship,” Lockett said.
Lockett also said he’s looking for a school with a family bond and the ability to help him get to the next level.
Ranked by 247Sports Composite as the No. 17 shooting guard and the No. 103 overall prospect in the class of 2023, Lockett describes as “a winner”.
“Everywhere I go, we just win,” he said. “I’ve won on every level. I’m going to bring energy. I’m going to bring different factors whether it’s rebounding, scoring or defense, I can get a win for us.”
