Baylor’s Matthew Mayer to withdraw from NBA Draft, will transfer

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Baylor’s Matthew Mayer will withdraw from the NBA Draft but hasn’t decided which school he will play for in the 2022-23 season, he told ZAGSBLOG.

“I’ve decided that I’m coming back to college but don’t know where,” he said.

Texas Tech, North Carolina, USC, Memphis, Alabama, Arkansas and Illinois were among the schools to reach out to him in the transfer portal.

There is an NCAA Dead Period from May 19-27 so no one can take visits until May 28.

The 6-foot-9 senior averaged 9.8 points, five rebounds, 1.2 steals and one assist on 40.9% shooting from the field in 33 games at Baylor. He is considered one of the top transfers in the portal.

The deadline for withdrawal from the NBA Draft is June 1.

The NBA draft will take place on June 23.
