Pittsburgh transfer Ithiel Horton has a new home: he’s headed to UCF.
“I will be committing and taking my talents to UCF because of the stability & culture of that program,” the 6-foot-3 Vauxhall, N.J. native and former St. Anthony’s and Roselle Catholic guard told ZAGSBLOG ahead of his public announcement. “I also see myself developing and learning the game of basketball along with becoming a better man. And I cannot wait [to play] for Coach [Johnny] Dawkins and his staff.”
He added: “I will be bringing my shooting ability, overall IQ, tenacity, leadership and will to get better.”
This will be the third stop for Horton, who played his freshman season at Delaware where he averaged 13.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 2018-19.
He then transferred to Pitt and averaged 8.9 points and 2.3 rebounds in 2020-21 and 9.8 points and 2.7 rebounds in 13 games last season.
Horton was reinstated to the Pitt program Dec. 30 after charges stemming from a Nov. 6 incident were dismissed in court. After scoring 13 points and going 3-of-5 from three-point range in his season debut at Louisville Jan. 5, Horton was again sidelined when charges were refiled on Jan. 8.
He was reinstated again Jan. 26.
