Class of ’23 forward Brandon Gardner taking official to St. John’s for Villanova game

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Brandon Gardner, the 6-foot-7 forward from Word of God Christian (N.C.) and Team Thad (TN), begins his official visit to St. John’s on Monday and will attend the Villanova game Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.

“They play very fast pace and that’s exactly how I play and they’re a defensively strong team,” Gardner told ZAGSBLOG. “And that’s pretty much me.”

St. John’s offered Gardner Dec. 29. He also holds offers from Georgia Tech, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, N.C. State, Kansas, Maryland, Auburn and Memphis among others.

Ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 6 power forward and No. 47 overall prospect in the Class of 2023, Gardner averaged 9.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks a game during the 2020-21 season.

“My role on my team is to protect the rim, block shots and rebound,” he said. “Although I have a bag, I believe most schools recruit me because of those skills that I have but they also know there’s more to me. I have a knock down jumper!!”
