Parrom Considering South Carolina

Kevin Parrom says he’s considering attending South Carolina, and it can’t hurt that Michael Boynton, a Brooklyn native who played at Bishop Loughlin High, is an assistant there.

“I talked to coach Boynton a couple of days ago,” Parrom told PalmettoSports.com, which covers South Carolina hoops. “South Carolina is still up there in the mix. They will most likely be in my top five. They’ve been loyal to me and they are just a good school.”

Boynton, a former South Carolina standout, was hired in May by head coach Darrin Horn.  During his tenure at Loughlin, Boynton earned first team All-New York City honors after leading his team to a 24-4 mark and a berth in the city semifinals. He averaged 15 points, 4 rebounds and 11 assists, including setting the single-game school record for assists with 16.

The 6-foot-6 Parrom recently took visits to St. John’s and UConn and has also been to Rutgers and Xavier unofficially. He will check out Louisville Aug. 31 with South Kent teammate Omari Lawrence, who lists St. John’s as his favorite.

Parrom had previously said his top five were St. John’s, Marquette, Xavier, Rutgers and South Carolina, but now he is also considering UConn, Louisville, Temple, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Providence.

“I’ve tried cutting the list down but schools keep contacting me and offering me, so that makes it hard,” Parrom told PalmettoSports.

He plans on setting his official visits next month.
