I just talked to Turgenia Knight, Brandon Knight’s mother, and she says Brandon is considering more than just the five schools mentioned the other day.
She said Duke is also on the list that includes UConn, Kentucky, Kansas, Miami and Florida.
She said several other schools are in the mix and would get back to me later today, but Syracuse, Miami, Georgia Tech and Florida State are also listed on his Rivals page.
“It’s those [five] schools probably with about four additional ones added on to that list,” she said. “Duke would be added onto that list. About four additional schools.”
She said Brandon, the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2010 out of Ft Lauderdale (FL) Pine Crest, had the complete list and that she was working on arranging visits.
A visit to Kansas for Midnight Madness is set.
“We are going to be going to Kansas and a couple other places,” she said.
J.J. MOORE TO VISIT MARQUETTE, LOUISVILLE
I also chatted via email with Monique Ballard, J.J. Moore’s mom, and she gave this update.
The 6-5 Moore is currently at the Five-Star Camp this week and will then hit the Marquette Elite Camp beginning Aug. 29.
Louisville and Marquette will visit in-home in September with Monique, Hunt Bresky, Moore’s adviser, and New York Panthers coach Gary Charles. J.J. won’t be there because he’s enrolling at at South Kent on Sept. 8.
Moore will then trip to Louisville in early October.
“He is scheduled to visit Louisville on Oct. 2,” Charles said.
Moore has taken unofficials to Providence, Pitt, Rutgers, St. John’s and Stony Brook.
RYAN RHOOMES TO PREP
Ryan Rhoomes, a 6-8 forward at Cardozo, will prep for one year before college after he finishes at Cardozo in 2010.
“His mother, high school coach Ron Naclerio, myself and his mentor, Karone Carmichael, believe an extra year would benefit him in the long run,” Charles said. “More than likely it will be South Kent.”
South Kent is loading up on local players and could also add Shaq Thomas, the Paterson native and nephew of Dallas Mavericks forward Tim Thomas. More on that later today.
GIBBS WORKING ON DUKE VISIT
Charles also said that 6-foot junior point guard Sterling Gibbs of Seton Hall Prep is working on setting up an unofficial visit to Duke.
“No date has been set yet,” Charles said.
JULIAN WASHBURN VISITS SETON HALL
Julian Washburn, the 6-8 son of former NBA player Chris Washburn, visited Seton Hall unofficially Monday and met with head coach Bobby Gonzalez and assistant Derm Player.
Washburn is ranked No. 20 among small forwards in the Class of 2010.
“He’s a very talented, versatile forward,” a Big East assistant coach said.
Washburn played for Duncanville (Texas) last season and may be enrolling at St. Patrick of Elizabeth, along with his younger brother, Chris, a sophomore who’s also 6-8.
“They have not enrolled yet in school but they did visit the school,” St. Pat’s coach Kevin Boyle said. “If they’re going to enroll, these kids are thinking about moving up to New Jersey.
“If that happens, then there’s probably a good chance that they enroll…I’m sure that we will know very shortly.”

Ya, I mean it’s like they just make stuff up right? Especially as one of the largest UK fansites and truthfully they have no ethical background! How dare AZ use information provided by a proffessional scouting analyst! It’s just wrong!

Tom Konchalski is a professional scout.
Dustin Rumbaugh is a hick in a pickup truck that showed up this summer with his overweight girlfriend to “cover” recruiting for a Kentucky blog, whose owner, Matt Jones, a part-time lawyer. Don’t confuse the two.
Rumbaugh could barely articulate questions, but, when he did, they were extremely leading, to such a degree as to render them useless.
Jones, the failed lawyer, pushed the limits of professionalism, when he covered the recruiting beat in prior years, most notably his behavior with Tywanna “The Human Press Conference” Patterson. Jerry Tipton, one of the few objective reporters in that state, was trying to avoid him like the plague at the Nike All-American Camp in Indianapolis, which is where Jones had his coming out party. Ask Mr. Tipton, who I’m certain that Adam Zagoria knows and respects, what he thinks of Matt Jones, the owner-operator of that KY blog.
