Five-star guard Shaedon Sharpe commits to Kentucky

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Shaedon Sharpe, the No. 6 overall prospect in the class of 2022, verbally pledged to Kentucky on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-4, 175-pound shooting guard from Dream City (AZ) Christian and the UPLAY Canada AAU program chose the Wildcats over Arizona, Oklahoma State and the NBA G League. He is rated the No. 2 shooting guard in the Class of 2022 per 247Sports.com.

“Shaedon is as efficient of a scoring guard as I’ve ever seen,” Dream City Christian coach Kyle Weaver said. “He doesn’t need a bunch of dribbles nor does he need a bunch of shots. He consistently had 25 points a game for us last year on about 13 shots. His ability to create and score with limited space is one of his best attributes. He can rise up over any defender with minimal space. His athleticism puts him on a whole another spectrum because he’s able to finish on anyone. He dunked on a 7 footer this year.

“His upside is very high because he is just hitting his true potential now I truly believe. The sky is truly the limit for Shaedon Sharpe!”

Sharpe visited Kentucky in June, was watched by Kentucky assistants Orlando Antigua and Ron “Chin” Coleman throughout Peach in July and then visited campus again with his parents late last month.

Sharpe is the latest Canadian star to pledge to Kentucky following Jamal Murray,, Trey Lyles and others and joins Montverde (FL) Academy point guard Skyy Clark in Kentucky’s 2022 class. They remain in the mix for shooting guard Cason Wallace and bigs Adem Bona and Dereck Lively II, among others.
