Five-Star forward Dariq Whitehead commits to Duke

By JACOB POLACHECK

Dariq Whitehead, the No. 7 ranked prospect in the class of 2022, has committed to Duke, he announced Sunday at the TREC Center in Newark.

Whitehead, the 6-foot-6, 190-pound small forward from Montverde (FL) Academy and the Team Durant AAU Program, chose Duke over Kansas and Florida State. He also received a $500,000 offer from the NBA G League Ignite on Saturday.

He picked up an offer frm Duke on June 9 and took his official visit just days later.

With Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski set to retire after this coming season, Whitehead joins four-star center Kyle Filipowski as the second recruit for coach-in-waiting Jon Scheyer, who will take over beginning in the 2022-23 season.
