Minnesota transfer Marcus Carr is now considering either playing for Texas or going the professional route overseas, according to an ESPN report.
The 6-foot-2 Toronto native visited Texas this week while his former AAU team, Northern Kings, was in Dallas for an event. There is some speculation that Carr has already signed financial aid papers with Texas, which would explain why he was pictured with the coaching staff on his visit during a dead period.
Ahead of his visit, he was considering also visiting some of the other schools on his list — Louisville, Kansas and Kentucky — but they are now out.
New Texas coach Chris Beard has already added several high-impact transfers in Tre Mitchell (UMass), Devin Askew (Kentucky), Timmy Allen (Utah) and Dylan Disu (Vanderbilt).
Carr averaged 19.4 points, 4.9 assists and 4.0 rebounds for a Minnesota team that finished 14-15.
Carr played his final two seasons at Montverde (FL) Academy under coach Kevin Boyle, who will have multiple players in this year’s NBA Draft, including projected No. 1 pick Cade Cunningham of Oklahoma State.
