North Carolina lands Marquette transfer Dawson Garcia

By JACOB POLACHECK

Marquette transfer forward Dawson Garcia has committed to North Carolina, he announced Thursday via Instagram.

Garcia, a 6-foot-11, 230-pound power forward out of Prior Lake, MN, averaged 13.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.5 blocks per game on 48 percent shooting as a freshman during the 2020-21 season.

Coming out of Prior Lake (MN) High School, Garcia was ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 4 power forward and No. 32 overall prospect in the Class of 2020.

He joins incoming Tar Heel transfers Brady Manek (Oklahoma) and Justin McKoy (Virginia) as the third transfer to join the program this offseason.

North Carolina is also bringing in four-star forward Dontrez Styles and four-star shooting guard D’Marco Dunn.
