Class of 2022 four-star forward Alex Karaban began his visit tour over the weekend with his first official trip to Northwestern (June 10-12).
“It was an awesome visit, I really loved it,” Karaban told ZAGSBLOG Monday. “The campus is unbelievable, the coaching staff, players, and members associated with the program are so honest and genuine.”
Karaban, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound small forward from New Hampton (NH) School, was also impressed by Northwestern’s basketball facilities.
“It’s a great opportunity to make history at the school,” he said. “Doing someone most people don’t wanna do and make an impact at that school is awesome.”
Northwestern’s coaching staff pitched to Karaban how much of an impact he could have on the program.
“[They pitched] that I fit in extremely well with how they play,” Karaban said. “And just my character off the court, too. I can be a leader for this class.”
Karaban is set to visit UConn for an unofficial on June 21, before tripping to Penn State from June 27-28 for his second official visit.
Ranked by ESPN.com as the No. 9 power forward and No. 50 overall prospect in the class of 2022, Karaban is a stretch four that can play inside-out.
“I can create many mismatches by going by big dudes or posting up smaller dudes,” Karaban said. “I can show the ball extremely well, rebound at an elite level, and I’m a very unselfish player. I also use my length on defense.”
