Pinkston, Moore Visiting St. John's This Week (UPDATED)

St. John’s will get a couple of high-profile players on campus this week.

JayVaughn Pinkston, the top high school player in New York City in the Class of 2010, took an unofficial visit to the Queens campus Tuesday with New Heights AD Kimani Young.

“It went well,” Young said. “He got to walk around campus a little bit, spend some time with the coaching staff. It was good.”

The 6-foot-6 Pinkston, a senior forward at Bishop Loughlin, recently visited both Villanova and Tennessee.

He plans to visit Marquette at the end of the month for its elite camp.

Arizona, Seton Hall and Miami are also in the mix for Pinkston, who dropped 19 on Grassroots Canada in Vegas.

Pinkston said he won’t decide until the spring of 2010

Kimani tells me [about the schools], but I really don’t pay attention,” Pinkston said recently. “I just go out there and play. If you think about it too much then you’re not going to do so well.”

J.J. Moore, a 6-5 wing from Brentwood, Long Island, will visit St. John’s Saturday.

Moore visited Providence last week and will be at Pittsburgh today.

Rutgers, Syracuse, UConn, Louisville and Oklahoma are also involved.
