Oklahoma State lands commitment from Texas Tech transfer forward Tyreek Smith

By JACOB POLACHECK

Oklahoma State has landed a commitment from Texas Tech transfer forward Tyreek Smith, he announced Wednesday via Twitter.

Smith, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound small forward out of Baton Rouge, L.A., averaged 2.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 0.2 assists and 0.7 blocks as a freshman during the 2020-21 season.

He appeared in 29 games and averaged 8.6 minutes per game.

Smith redshirted during the 2019-20 season after sitting out due to injury.

Coming out of Cedar Hill (TX) Trinity Christian School, Smith was ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 25 power forward and No. 165 overall prospect in the class of 2019.

Smith joins Syracuse transfer wing Woody Newton as the second member of Oklahoma State’s 2021 newcomer class.
