USF picks up New Mexico transfer Bayron Matos

By RYAN McMULLEN

South Florida landed New Mexico forward transfer Bayron Matos on Tuesday evening.

Matos chose the Bulls over Illinois, Oklahoma State, St. John’s, Tennessee State, Texas Tech, Xavier, and Washington State.

Matos saw action in 20 Lobos games this season as a freshman. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 6.0 points on 52.6% shooting along with 4.1 rebounds.

In high school, Matos had offers from Dayton, Florida, Illinois, Mississippi State, TCU, among others. He was committed to Mississippi State at one point but ultimately decommitted.
