Mississippi State lands Memphis transfer forward D.J. Jeffries

By JACOB POLACHECK

Mississippi State has landed a commitment from Memphis transfer forward D.J. Jeffries, he announced Monday via Twitter.

The 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward out of Olive Branch, M.S., averaged 9.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 0.9 blocks per game as a sophomore during the 2020-21 season.

During his freshman season in 2019-20, Jeffries averaged 10.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 blocks per game before suffering a season-ending knee injury that forced him to miss the season’s final 12 games.

Jeffries closed out his career at Memphis by averaging 13.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists in six postseason games, as the Tigers won the 2021 NIT Championship.

He became one of four Memphis players to enter the transfer portal this offseason joining Boogie Ellis, Damion Baugh and Jordan Nesbitt.
