Arizona State lands Illinois State transfer DJ Horne

By RYAN McMULLEN

Illinois State transfer DJ Horne announced his commitment to Arizona State on Saturday.

“I chose ASU because of the tutelage that Coach (Bobby) Hurley could give me as a point guard,” Horne told ZAGSBLOG. “Arizona State is a great place and I will have a familiar face with me, Will Felton. Those two things in addition to competing at the Power 5 level made this decision feel 100% right.”

The 6-foot-1 point guard chose ASU over Cal, Colorado, Colorado State, Marquette, and Nebraska.

Horne is coming off a great sophomore campaign where he averaged 15.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.7 rebounds. He also shot 42% from beyond the arc.

Horne was named to the All-MVC third team this year.

The Sun Devils 2021 recruiting class includes five-star Enoch Boakye and three-stars Felton, Demari Williams, Justin Rochelin, and Jamiya Neal. They also have three other transfers coming to Tempe in Jay Heath, AJ Bramah, and Marreon Jackson.
