One day after his introductory press conference, new Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd has landed his verbal commitment.
Dylan Anderson, the 7-foot- center from Gilbert, AZ, pledged to the Wildcats. Ranked the No. 8 center in the Class of 2022, per 247Sports.com, he also considered North Carolina, Michigan, Gonzaga, Kansas and USC.
“Dylan has a special skillset,” said coach August Mendes of Arizona Supreme.
“Outside of his IQ and leadership communicating, he has the ability to stretch the floor with his shooting ability from deep causing mismatches on the floor with his versatility. Outside of his shooting ability he adds value with his height and wingspan by changing and blocking shots or rebounding paired with his high motor. What people saw from him this year, he is a great passer being double- and triple-teamed. He keeps the ball high and makes high-quality reads and passes leading to scoring opportunities for his teammates. Lastly, what stands out is his ability to run the floor like a guard. It doesn’t seem real for how tall he is, how quick he can run the floor. Hhis mother has a track background at ASU competing.”
Lloyd on Thursday said he would recruit using a a mix of international and American players.
“We’re going to fish in all waters for the University of Arizona, no matter if they have a name you can’t pronounce or it’s the kid from down the street,” Lloyd said.
