LSU lands Mizzou transfer guard Xavier Pinson

By JUSTIN POTTINGER

University of Missouri transfer guard Xavier Pinson has committed to LSU, he announced Monday via Instagram

Pinson, a 6-foot-2, 170-pound guard out of Chicago, IL, averaged 13.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game in 26 games played during the 2020-21 season.

Pinson’s original list included LSU, Kansas, Nebraska, Georgia, Arkansas and Auburn, before cutting to a final two of LSU and Kansas.

The SEC currently requires intra-conference transfers to sit out one year, however, the rule is being reconsidered later in the month.

Pinson gives LSU some much-needed backcourt depth as the Tigers are set to lose Javonte Smart, Cam Thomas, Darius Days and Trendon Watford to the NBA Draft.
