Louisville announced the addition of Miami transfer forward Matt Cross on Wednesday.
Cross, a 6-foot-7, 225-pound forward from Beverly, MA, appeared in 14 games as a freshman for the Hurricanes during the 2020-21 season, averaging 6.9 points and 3.5 rebounds, while shooting 40 percent from three-point range.
“We are excited to add one of the best shooters in the country to our program,” Louisville head coach Chris Mack said in a press release Wednesday. “Matt Cross will help our team a lot next season and beyond. He is a tough kid, is more than a just shooter and has ACC experience from day one. Matt will arrive for summer school this June and provide some things our team was missing this past season. We can’t wait to get him here.”
Cross, who committed to Louisville on Feb. 25, is expected to be immediately eligible for the 2021-22 season.
He joins an incoming Louisville recruiting class that features JUCO guard El Ellis and incoming freshmen Mike James, Bobby Pettiford, Eric Van der Heijden and Roosevelt Wheeler.
Coming out of Brewster (NH) Academy, Cross was ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 22 small forward and No. 90 overall prospect in the Class of 2020 coming out of high school.
He initially chose to attend Miami after also considering offers from Florida, Butler, Iowa, Indiana, South Carolina and Texas A&M.
