GEICO Nationals moved to Fort Myers, set to return in 2021

By JACOB POLACHECK

After being canceled last year due to COVID-19, the 2021 GEICO Nationals Tournament is set to return this year.

The 2021 Tournament has relocated from New York City to Fort Myers, Florida and will be played April 3 at Florida Southwestern’s SunCoast Credit Union Arena.

The 10-team boys’ field and four-team girls’ bracket will be unveiled some time during the next week.

Defending national champion Montverde (FL) Academy (20-1) is expected to make the field as well as powerhouses IMG (FL) Academy, Oak Hill (VA) Academy and Sunrise Christian (KS) Academy.

The Tournament will be televised in its entirety on ESPN’s various platforms.

“It’s tremendous to have GEICO Nationals back in 2021,” Rashid Ghazi, the executive director of the tournament said. “And to host it in Florida, where the (Florida High School Athletic Association) has always been a big supporter of the event.”

No tickets will be sold to the general public.
