Four-star point guard TyTy Washington decommits from Creighton

By JACOB POLACHECK

Class of 2021 four-star point guard TyTy Washington has de-committed from Creighton, he announced Thursday via Twitter.

“After a lot of discussions and talking with my family and coaches, I have decided to decommit from Creighton University, and reopen my recruitment,” Washington said in a statement. “I’d like to thank the Creighton coaching staff for the opportunities that they’ve placed before me.”

Washington, the 6-foot-3, 185-pound point guard from Compass Prep (AZ), originally committed to Creighton on November 15 over Illinois.

His decommitment comes just three days after Creighton reinstated head coach Greg McDermott ahead of the Big East Tournament.

McDermott served a one-game suspension for racially insensitive comments more than a week ago.

On Tuesday, McDermott issued an apology for making a reference to a “plantation” in the locker room after his team’s 77-69 loss to Xavier on Feb. 27.

According to 247Sports.com, Washington is ranked as the No. 4 point guard and No. 31 overall prospect in the Class of 2021.

Creighton still has three commits in the 2021 class in guards John Christofilis and Ryan Nembhard, as well as four-star power forward Mason Miller.
