Garrison Powell, the 6-foot-3 guard from Holy Innocents Episcopal (GA), is considering reclassifying down a year.
Ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 66 shooting guard in the Class of 2021, Powell holds offers from James Madison, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Elon, FGCU, and North Carolina A&T, and has interest from Seton Hall and Missouri, among others.
“I’ve been weighing my options,” he said. “I could do a possible post-grad reclass to class of ’22. If I do that, I can develop more, play another year of AAU, take visits to schools, and not have to rush to make a decision.” He said he doesn’t really know what route he is going to take yet.
Seton Hall, Missouri and Aubrn are the newest programs to show interest.
“For Missouri, I talk to them around 4-5 times per week.,” he said.
“And then for Seton Hall it’s usually around 1-2 per week when I talk with coach Grant [Grant] Billmeier. Also, I will talk to Auburn every once in a while.”
Powell said he “definitely” wants to take visits to Missouri and Seton Hall when he can.
This season, Powell is averaging 25 points per game and five rebounds per game.
“My goal is to win a state championship, be 1A player of the year, region player of the year, first-team all state, really just any accolade I could achieve,” he said.
He feels as if the best part of his game is his scoring.
“I can score at the rim, three-pointers, really anything,” he said. “I can play the one and the two [positions].
“I’m just a very versatile scorer and player.”
