Jay Wright and No. 4 Villanova resumed basketball activities with a team practice on Sunday one week after the program announced Wright, 59, had tested positive for COVID-19.
The school said Wright “has participated in virtual team and staff meetings throughout the past week as he continues his recovery away from the team. He remains on target to rejoin the team on Tuesday when they visit DePaul [Tuesday].”

Ten of 11 Big East teams have been directly impacted by COVID, with UConn and Villanova pausing twice each. St. John’s became the 10th team when it announced that Saturday’s game with DePaul was postponed due to a COVID issue within the St. John’s program. It remains unclear if St. John’s is on an extended pause. They are due to visit Xavier Wednesday.
The Big East told NJ Advance Media it has “contingency plans” for a bubble in early 2021 and could pause the season altogether if conditions worsen significantly.
