Mustapha Amzil commits to Dayton, will enroll in January

By JACOB POLACHECK

Mustapha Amzil, the 6-foot-10, 215-pound power forward from First Love (PA) Christian Academy, has committed to Dayton and will enroll in January, he tells ZAGSBLOG.

“I had very good connection with Dayton coaches,” Amzil said by text Monday. “The opportunity I’m able to have with them, how I’m able to get better and reach my goals and amazing fan base. I’m also able to enroll to the school this season.”

After moving from Finland to the United States in October, Amzil immediately became one of the most highly recruited prospect in the nation with Dayton extending an offer on Oct. 9.

“He brings a high basketball IQ and a very unique skill set for a kid his size,” First Love head coach Khayree Wilson said. “There’s not too much he can’t do on the court. I’ll be excited to see him play in January this season.”

Amzil chose Dayton over offers from Indiana, Marquette, SMU, Illinois, N.C. State, DePaul, Kansas State, Georgia Tech, Pitt, Oklahoma State, Boston College, St. John’s and Maryland.

Ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 71 power forward in the Class of 2021, Amzil joins four-star forward DaRon Holmes and three-stars Kaleb Washington and Malachi Smith as the fourth commit in the Flyers ‘ 2021 class.

“I can do multiple things on the court and help the team win,” he said.
