Jeremy Sochan to Baylor

By JACOB POLACHECK

Jeremy Sochan is headed to Baylor.

Sochan, the 6-foot-7, 205-pound small forward from Orange Academy (GERM), announced his commitment to Baylor on Thursday, via Twitter. ESPN’s Jonathan Givony was first to report the news.

“I really appreciate how much time the coaches at Baylor invested in getting to know me and building a relationship with my family,” Sochan told ESPN. “This helps us understand each other better, and as they’ve been so successful, I hope I can bring even more success to Baylor from 2021.”

Sochan chose Baylor over schools such as Kansas, Michigan State, Arizona, Florida State, Virginia, Creighton, Vanderbilt and Xavier, among others.

He is the second commit in Baylor’s 2021 class after the Bears also landed a commitment from 6-foot-4 shooting guard Langston Love on Wednesday.

“It’s always been my dream to play basketball in college, but it’s as important to have a plan for when basketball stops,” he said. “I want to play professionally and have a long career, and studying at Baylor can help me be successful both on and off the court.”

Sochan played for the Poland U-16 team in the FIBA European Championships U16 B Division last August, winning a gold medal while averaging 16.1 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

Sochan, a Poland native, will spend his senior year of high school in Germany with Ratiopharm Ulm’s junior program, Orange Academy.

According to 247Sports.com, Sochan is ranked as the No. 21 power forward and No. 96 overall player in the Class of 2021.
